That's almost what I meant. I meant that Money provides support just
fine for that. Just not explicitly. And if person was not interested
in use of classifications or other methods of accomplishing the
stated goal, then person was just lobbying.

What I think Cal meant is Money isn't going to go to the extra effort to
provide tax support to people who live together but can't file joint returns.
Sorry.

OK then...no need to upgrade this year. I'll check back
when Money2005 is released.

Thanks!

If you each have separate accounts for the expenses, you could make
copies of your Money file to prepare taxes. Each make the other's
accounts into watch accounts.

If the accounts are merged, for household expenses you could
consider the use of Classifications. Then report could be customized
to select the His classification. However this is not going to work
for your schedule D prep.

Default does Money 2004 support unmarried partners?

My partner and I have merged our finances since 1999 as a
matter of convenience and a show of committment. However,
since we are not permitted to file a joint income tax
return, this generally renders all of Money's tax-related
features useless to us since I can't separate the my
income verses his and minimize our combined tax
liability.

As of Money2003, Microsoft has yet to create a version of
Money that is able to accomodate the finances and tax
implications of unmarried partners with merged finances.
Does anybody konw if the 2004 version has such a feature?
I really see no need to upgrade until such a feature is
available (or we can legally file a joint return), since
the older versions of money can manage my accounts and
investments just fine.

Thanks in advance!
