| So Robert, I see you say that when you get to the point of accepting, it displays the locally entered amount in the register, but which amount is actually kept when you *do* click 'accept'? I've been using money for a few years now, and only in the past week was I taken aback by noticing that when transactions were matched, the amount displayed in the register was still the local amount, not the downloaded amount. I was relieved to find that when I clicked 'Accept', the amount changed to the downloaded amount. Still, this discovery was disturbing enough that I unmatched and matched them a couple of times before I was willing to try 'accepting'. I wonder if this was changed in a recent update, because I don't like it, and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed it before. If so, it's a horrible change; clicking accept should have known results, not require a leap of faith. You can unmatch again, but you can't unaccept. But hopefully this is all you're seeing and the program simply needs to win back your trust. - John <pong_god[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1169314964.443623.104970[at]m58g2000cwm.googlegroups.com... - quote - > I've seen a number of posts on this forum regarding Money's transaction > matching feature, but have not found any that address my particular > annoyance. That's very odd. I have been using Money since Money 2000 (although> match, it wants to keep the manually entered amount (which is only an > estimate) rather than the amount from the electronic transaction which > is what actually got charged to my Discover account. I'm currently stuck on Money 2004, because I don't like 2005-2007). I've been downloading transactions since I started, but I've never seen that behavior. What version of Money are you using? - quote - > It seems that the
Really? I'm able to edit matched transactions and change just about> only way for me to deal with this is to unmatch them and then delete > the entry which came from my Bills file which sort of renders the whole > matching endeavor pointless. everything, including the amount. You should be able to do the same. As far as suggestions go, a few questions: 1) Do you backup your money file? If not, make sure you have a good backup before you try anything. 2) Do you see this problem in other accounts that you download transactions into or just the disover account? If this is happening with many accounts, then it's likely to be some problem in either your .mny file or your Money installation. 3) How long have you been using Money? If long, then you might file repair In Money 2004, this is done by going to File -> Repair Money File, then choose quick or standard. I'd try quick first and see if it works. If that doesn't work then try standard. Good luck. |

| I've seen a number of posts on this forum regarding Money's transaction matching feature, but have not found any that address my particular annoyance. I've got some recurring monthly bills setup on my Discover card that have variable amounts. Money automatically downloads the electronic transactions and accurately matches them to the bills I set up manually. The problem is that when I go to Accept the proposed match, it wants to keep the manually entered amount (which is only an estimate) rather than the amount from the electronic transaction which is what actually got charged to my Discover account. It seems that the only way for me to deal with this is to unmatch them and then delete the entry which came from my Bills file which sort of renders the whole matching endeavor pointless. Any suggestions on this? - Robert - |
