| Thank you, Zoli for addressing this issue. My local bank recently started using the mfa (additional security questions and the "picture" that you choose to "recognize" the site as authentic). I do have a question about the solution you mentioned...how do you "attempt" to change the password at the bank via Money 2007 Deluxe? What I tried did not work: 1. selecting the account I had this problem with 2. selecting "change account settings" from the menu on the left side of the screen 3. selecting "change bank of brokerage passwords" from the bottom of the page 4. selecting "Edit user ID or password" next to the account that has this problem 5. changing the password in the "Current Password" and "Verify Password" fields. Note: this new mfa at my bank did not require me to change my password (or at least I was able to reenter the same password that I have always used at that bank, so for this step, I just changed the 2 password fields to "Karen1234" which is NOT the actual password that I use at that bank). 6. I then ran an update for that accout and it failed. 7. I went back through steps 1 through 6 above and this time, I entered the CORRECT password for my bank in the "Current Password" and "Verify Password" fields. 8. When I updated that account again, it failed again. Have I done something wrong? Did I misunderstand your solution? Thank you in advance for your help. When upgrading within Money, I provided the new password. Setup completed flawlessly. | I finally figured it out. There are two distinct ways of changing your login credentials in Money: - changing it only in Money - changing it in Money and also use Money to initiate the password change at the Bank. The problem was that at the last failed update the Bank's system "told" Money it needed a pw change (the Bank, that is). Then I logged off and left it alone. In the meantime I signed into NetBank directly, not using Money, and was forced to change my password (as well as answer those stupid questions). Next time I signed on to Money, it failed again. I kept on trying to change the password in Money to match the new one (or so I thought), but it kept on clearing out the password field. Finally it hit me: because of the previous error, Money now insists on trying to change the password at the bank. But of course I don't want it anymore... done it manually! The solution was to "attempt" to change the pw at the banl via Money, but make sure it fails: entered the old pw (no longer valid at the bank), enter the one to change to, let the update fail again - this cleared up the queued task and now Money allowed me to enter the new, valid password only into Money and did not reset the field anymore ... voila!, updates are working now. |

Unrelated to this technical problem, I share your view of Netbank customer> I too have experienced this problem and have been going round and round > with > the generally useless NetBank customer service group... support. I have an account only because it's an easy way to get higher rates on a dormant account. Maybe not the highest, but certainly better than most commercial banks. If I expected more activity with that account than I have, I'd move it to a bank that seemed to care. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| Zoli: I too have experienced this problem and have been going round and round with the generally useless NetBank customer service group about this for more than two weeks now. In one response, NetBank reported that they are aware of the issue, have presented it to the appropriate people, and are working to fix it. But alas, more than a week later when I prodded them again, they came back with a message along the lines of: Now, what exactly is the error you're experiencing with MS Money? I've asked what the issue is? How long until a fix? Is this a change in policy? Is it related to the new security processes? All such queries have been answered with the bland and uninformative script: "We are sorry you are experiencing difficulties." Or something along those lines. I've tried disconnecting / reconnecting the account to Money. I've tried changing passwords and such via the NetBank site. All to no avail. At this stage, I am making the arrangements to move my accounts to a different bank, as this issue is a complete non-starter for me. I manage my accounts quite closely and have been accustomed to syncing my accounts with Money on a daily basis for several years now. Glad to read that not everyone is experiencing this, but I'm completely disappointed with NetBank's lack of response to this issue. Good luck with this! Matthew Coble Atlanta, GA |

| You must have a different issue because I am also a NetBank customer an went through their recent security upgrade but I have not had n problems with synchronizing using Money 2007. By the way, you will see more and more banks adding this type o additional layer of security due to guidance and requirements by th regulators. | A word of caution about Money's interaction with the new security procedures. If your bank records attempts by Money as invalid logins, then you may get frozen out of your account. Further, when I turned off the account update for my bank account, the repeated invalid attempts continued to occur and I finally had to change the UserID on my bank's website to stop the invalid logins. | Almost certainly that is what is the problem. Until the Banks work out how to deliver to Money you could try downloading manually and inputting the resulting file into Money. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | NetBank recently forced users to change passwords and enter responses to some personalized security questions. Since than signup consist of entering userid/pw followed by a question like the first musical instrument you learned, favorite movie, book ...etc. It's really annoying. Worst of all, Money 2007 can't log in, even though I changed the password in Money. Could this be the stupid extra question? Has anyone else experienced it? Thanks. |
