Another would be to examine the OFX file, and see if the position data was in a POSSTOCK or POSMF type record. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911941/ tells how to capture such a file. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Mike R wrote: > > > > Cal - maybe I'm trying too hard. You would want a fake big buy transactions in each such account, and> accounts. I'm changing them all via this method. you would eventually delete each of the fake big buy transactions. Yes. At 5 per minute, 20 minutes would change 100 transactions. That seems like a fairly easy pace once you have the pattern down. I guess you would want to be sure that the investment was in fact a mutual fund in the downloads before going thru that. - quote - > While bored of changing

| Cal - maybe I'm trying too hard. This investment (stock) is in many of my accounts. I'm changing them all via this method. While bored of changing all those (editing to correct fund), I shot over to continue the online account setup. The "correct fund" still isn't showing in this pulldown. I've got to stop for a while. Let me know if I should try something else, or just continue. Is the final delete of zzzzz investment the KEY to this.???? Thanks. I have deleted the new online account, disassociated > the old manual account with the online (citibank). BUT, when I try to do it > again, I don't get asked how I should associate the stock. Does this make > sense? I want the program to FORGET about how I associated it 3 days ago, > and eventhough I have deleted all references to this security, it doesn't > re-ask me how to do it. Ugh. Restore a backup from just before you downloaded from your broker. This time, when Money says it found a stock in your portfolio, don't take the default that it is a new stock. Instead, select that you already track it under a different name. Select that name from the drop-down list, and things should work nicely this time. If you already overwrote your backups, then review your backup policies. The problem can still be handled. It will just be much more complex. |
