| These messages means that Money thinks your .mny file is from a different version. In fact MS released a major upgrade to the version of M2005 that you bought. You need to get this upgrade. Find your sample.mny file and double click on the file name - that will start Money and download the upgrade. You can then go back to using your normal .mny file. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the process. It will do an update. Close Money. Then open Money and check that Help-> About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105. Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files. |

| My computer crashed. Had to reinstall Windows XP and Money. Tried to open my data file from the original file (tried to restore from a backup file as well and got the same message) and I get this message: Money will convert your file (don't understand this because I was already running Money 05) Money will make a copy. Then it will upgrade your file to Money 2005. When I click NEXT I get the following error: Money can't find the file or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk drive is write protected. PLEASE HELP. My life is in that file. I thought I was completely safe, because I was fully backed up, but I get exactly the same message when I try to restore from the backup. |
