| Yes, it turned out that my ContentProtect software was preventing the download. Disabling it (even from the startup config) did not really disable it. I had to UNINSTALL it and then everything worked fine. Cost me some $$ to take my computer in to figure this out (sigh). "wizard_chef" wrote: - quote - > Did you ever solve this? | Did you ever solve this? I finally gave up and went over to Quicken after exhausting the Microsoft tech crew's suggestions and spending over two weeks on the problem. | Most likely your firewall is interfering (even when "disabled") You could see if you could customize it to "prompt" instead of automatically block to see what it is blocking and then allow that access. But it might simply be easier to temporarily uninstall it, try updating Money and then reinstall the firewall. -Mark "Josie" <Josie[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C8FEDF27-0FC7-4A92-B781-EFAF275619BF[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Thanks Cal; > I meant that I tried to download updated software manually for Money 2007 > Premium from the Money web site, but that did not work either. > I added the sites you mentioned and made sure that the "Require Server > Notification" was not checked. | Thanks Cal; I meant that I tried to download updated software manually for Money 2007 Premium from the Money web site, but that did not work either. I added the sites you mentioned and made sure that the "Require Server Notification" was not checked. I did have to check SSL2, and I noticed that SSL3 is already checked. After restarting, I opened Money again, and it had the same behavior. It says additional updates are needed, but is not able to install them. Anything else to try? What do you mean by "download directly from the web"?> it installs fine, but when I start Money it notifies me that an additional > update is required. It looks like it downloads the files properly but fails > the add'l install. I have tried the following: > uninstall and install again > turn off all virus protection (Panda) firewalls, etc. > download directly from the web - quote - > None of these have helped.
In IE, I would go to> I saw one article on this problem that said to remove a Core File, but I can > not find it on my computer. > Please help. Tools-> InternetOptions-> Security-> TrustedSites-> Sites list and uncheck "Require server verification... ". In the trusted sites list I would add these: moneycentral.msn.com fdl.microsoft.com passport.com passport.net login.live.com g.msn.com money:// Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox may be in Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. |

| I am trying to use Money 2007 Premium on my new computer (Windows XP SP2) and it installs fine, but when I start Money it notifies me that an additional update is required. It looks like it downloads the files properly but fails the add'l install. I have tried the following: uninstall and install again turn off all virus protection (Panda) firewalls, etc. download directly from the web None of these have helped. I saw one article on this problem that said to remove a Core File, but I can not find it on my computer. Please help. -- Josie |
