OK. On each machine, open Sample.mny, which is in your install
folder. Make sure both machines are running version 14.0.120.1105 by
using Help-> About. If they are not already at that level, then they
should automatically download to that level. I suspect that one of
your machines is running an older level at the moment.

Make sure you are keeping extra backup file copies for various
dates. You are doing something a bit unusual. Also make sure that
you use the "Safely remove hardware" feature before unplugging.

Close Money. In Windows Explorer, double-click that file on the USB
flash drive. Does Money launch?

I suggest setting a backup file location that exists on both hard
drivers.
