It worked! Oh, yeah, I'll definitely get a CD from a real store. Staples
currently has them for free (after rebate) if you buy the $30 Tax-Cut
software package.

Last week I took my laptop to work and did windows update (via the
high-speed internet connection) for the first time in 10 months. I suspect
one of the updates broke my old version of Money.

If it works and if you decide to buy it, please go to the store and buy a
real copy with a real CD. It may save a LOT of grief in the future if you
need to reinstall.

You could try reinstalling if you have the CD.

The same as if you download and install the free trial. Then you
could later upgrade that trial by buying a CD at your local store.

Default can't open my money2001 file

I have a strange problem with Money2001.

I can't open my files. It asks for my password and after I enter it, a box
pops up saying, "Microsoft Money has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I've tried opening some backups that I have achirved from clear back from
September - still no luck.

Any suggestions?

If I buy the latest version, what are the chances it will open my old 2001
version file?

Aaron
