Migrating my data was a nightmare. After purchasing Quicken 2007 (there is> migrating your data... no trial) and researching the forums because its data converter would not work, I had to get tech support to give me a Quicken 2002 version just to convert my Money file, and then convert that file to Quicken 2007. It was a 48 hr. process. Converting from Quicken to Money is MUCH easier. Intuit has its share of problems. I find Money's interface to be cleaner, and I had tremendous issues downloading, be it direct connect or simply importing QFX files (Quicken does not support importing QIF files anymore). Sometimes transactions would import, sometimes not. After two weeks of this (and after getting a full refund for Money 07) I downloaded a Money 07 trial and keep both programs updated. Although I like the customization options of Quicken (Money's does not even allow a customizable color scheme) I am leaning toward Money because it had so far been more reliable and user friendly. When I sold investment shares in a stock and purchased new shares in another stock, Money automatically inputted everything correctly after a download, where Quicken asked needed me to fill in placeholders and I had no clue. I have 45 more days with Quicken before I lose my full refund options, and 85 days with my Money trial. Hope this is useful to someone. P.S. I REALLY WISH I COULD MULTI-SELECT BILLS STILL FOR A PROJECTED BALANCE AFTER PAYMENT! | Think of yourself as a pioneer exploring something many of us have also pondered. | Dear Dick: Interesting you should say that, because converting is not so easy. I'm currently running MS07 and Quicken 07 and am waiting for customer service to respond to my e-mail about its data converter NOT working. I must say, Quicken is also quirky. And I am not crazy about it's cartoon-like interface. I prefer Money's interface and streamlined register. I will keep all informed. | Let us know how the test drive goes and what, if anything, you do about migrating your data. | Just upgraded from M02 to M07. Disappointing upgrade. The online services are quirky, I now HAVE to use Windows Passport if I want my services to auto-update (and sometimes I still have to ask it to update manually), no more money express, so I don't know why there even is an option for the bill reminder because it's pretty useless. And, the worse of all, I can no longer multi-select bills in bill pay to see what my future balance would be after multiple payments. I am so desperate for that little option, that I considered signing up for MSN's bill pay information just to have the "pay online" button activate and maybe regain the option of multi-selecting my bills again. But, I refuse to be pushed into that. So, I am unhappy with this $50 upgrade (haven't rec. my $20 rebate check yet) and will be test driving Quicken soon. |
