In Money 2007 help, enter Budget into the box. Choose the "Create a
new Advanced Budget" item.

Moments later, I tracked down this post, which has instructions on how
to do it (by typing something into the money address bar to go around
the UI) F'ing billiant one MS.

Default Budgeting woes

So, I've been using MS Money since 2004, and decided that I needed to
re-setup a lot of my numbers, so I did a brand new money file in 2007.
I've been using it as a register, but decided to finally re-set up my
budget.

Now, I'm really angry at the upgrade. Apparently, I can't use the
"Advanced" budget, which made it easier to add one-time items (rather
than just adding them as custom categories with custom payments). Now
I find out that I CANNOT remove the Trended items from the Cash Flow
forecast and still show my budget items (like I used to be able to do)
WITHOUT having an Advanced budget. If I choose to include budget
items, I have to include trended items because the other option
(Advanced Budget) is grayed out, because I didn't upgrade and can no
longer select an Advanced budget - even though it CAN do it, because
its available for upgrading users!

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I bought software.
There's a feature there that exists for users who upgrade, but not for
users who chose not to upgrade that I can't have access to. As a
result, my cash flow chart is basically worthless, and the budget is
hobbled, all so I can have someone from MSN Money tell me how I should
be budgeting BUILT INTO THE [at]#$#[at] SOFTWARE.

So - anyone know how to get around this and make my budget become an
"advanced" budget so that the cash flow chart works properly again? At
this point, I don't think I'll upgrade MS Money again - and will either
switch to Quicken next year, or back to Excel after 3 years.

Thanks
D
