Default Re: Writing Checks from an Investment Account

If you are wanting to have MSN Bill Pay make payments via your investment
account, you'll need to contact them to see if you can add this as a payment
account.

If not, then you'll have to manually track the transactions (especially
since your brokerage does not provide downloads).

I'm sorry for the (semi) late response, but I'm not sure that I
understand the question. The answer might be "yes", but it depends
on what you mean by "set up check writing". Are you asking about
whether or not Money will allow you to set up check printing from
an investment account? If so, I don't do that so I can't answer.

However, if you're asking if Money can track writing a check from
the cash portion of an investment account the answer is, "yes".
In my experience, some brokerages provide transaction downloads
for the cash portion of the investment account and some do not.
For those that don't, you can still track the check writing, you
just have to do it manually.

Hope that helps.

Default RE: Writing Checks from an Investment Account

Let me rephrase:

Will M2007 let me set up check writing from the cash side of an investment
account?

This is a brokerage account, where the "cash" side is in money market funds,
and the check writing is handled by MSN Bill Pay.

Default Writing Checks from an Investment Account

I've just upgraded from Money 2003 to Money 2007. I have a brokerage account
from which I write checks using MSN Billpay. In the past, this has required a
very awkward configuration: I've had to set up a dummy checking account from
which to write the checks because either Money or MSN Billpay would not allow
me to write checks from the cash side of an investment account.

Has Money found a way to fix this problem? If so, how can I switch the
association of my MSN Billpay payment account from the dummy checking account
to the cash portion of the investment account? Or do I have to set up new
accounts?
