Default Re: How to make Money run as admin.

Money seems by default to place the Money file in My Documents. If you are
upgrading an older version it puts it in the same directory that it found
the old file. Under XP I use the Shared Documents directory so that it is
visible and accessible to my wife. We are only ones with accounts on the
machine so do not need to set special access to limit to the two of us.
That obviously is possible if the machine has other accounts.

I don't recall -- does Money normally put it's data files in My Documents?
Or in a sub dir of the install directory? If the latter, and if users don't
have write rights in the program dir\subdirs, that could be blocked. If
true, move the data file to an appropriate document directory, where users
have the necessary rights.

Sam,

Money rarely requires more than one product update per version, if
that, and if administrator rights are necessary, one is prompted to
switch user to perform the update.

As for file updates, you shouldn't be having any problems updating
accounts, quotes, etc. as a limited user.

Regards,
JB

You can do this in Vista by right clicking on the Microsoft Money entry on
the Start Menu and selecting 'run as administrator'. Depending on your
version on Windows, you may have something similar
