| Hello again, I was able to get 2005 functional again on the new Vista build I've recently embraced. I installed 2005. Copied my saved .mny file into the Program Files\MS Money 2005 directory. I first opened the sample.mny file to get the update installed to the base 2005 install. Closed Money. Then I simply clicked on the desired .mny file, provided credentials, selected Work Offline, and was good to go. MS needs to make using Money easier. . . I moved away from Quicken to Money but find the experiance of upgrading, downgrading and money file management clumsy and not very intuiative. It should not be difficult to use a Money managment piece of software, regardless of the task. I also believe Money updates should be considered into the Windows Update Suite. Will seek refund for Essentials this week. I found this newsgroup to be very valuable to my efforts to return to functionality. Thanks to everyone who chimed in. j a c k Two pennies worth and a little better rest this evening knowing I can manage my finances again. | That is an option but if you made any changes in 07 in the trial or in the essentials 2005 will not open this 2005 will be put back to the time before 07 was installed all you have to do is uninstall then reinstall 05 from the cd. But I do suggest refunding the essentials then downloading the Deluxe from them or lookin at a local retailer for it -- Steve steven_morrison69[at]hotmail.com "Williams, Jack D" <jdwillnospam[at]indiana.edu> wrote in message news:7BF61B01-06CF-4F61-A8AF-DB2B76F88620[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > So would an option be to seek a refund, uninstall Essentials, install my > original 2005 version of Money? > Or is Money hardcoded to force an upgrade after some much time passes? > j a c k > "Steve" <steven_morrison69[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:u55SoT8FHHA.3872[at]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > Essentials will not convert any money 2005 file to receive a refund for > > essentials contact Digital River (Microsoft Online Store) at 952-646-5047 > > Then buy the deluxe version to copy the files > > > -- > > Steve > > steven_morrison69[at]hotmail.com > > > > > "Williams, Jack D" <jdwillnospam[at]indiana.edu> wrote in message > > news:19E6E0CA-ADE8-40E5-BE0C-9EB7E447605A[at]microsoft.com... > > > Hmm. > > > > > I downloaded Essentials. . . > > > > > j a c k > > > > > > > "Marilyn & Bob" <Privacy[at]nospam.please> wrote in message > > > news:uWqXzK8FHHA.960[at]TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > > > > The only workaround is to return Money Essentials and to buy Money > > > > Deluxe instead. > > > > -- > > > > Peace, > > > > BobJ > > > > > > > "Williams, Jack D" <jdwillnospam[at]indiana.edu> wrote in message > > > > news:774E4A5D-D776-4DB7-A05A-58F8F1AC0333[at]microsoft.com... > > > > > After a move to Vista, I opted to purchase Money Essentials and > > > > > install over the previous version 2005 Standard I was using with XP. > > > > > > > > > I have several current copies of may main .mny file from the 2005 > > > > > Standard days but can't get any to open with Money Essentials. > > > > > > > > > The error states that previous versions of money files can't be opened > > > > > by Money Essentials. > > > > > > > > > Is there a workaround for this? > > > > > > > > > Thanks, > > > > > > > > > j a c k > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > |

| After a move to Vista, I opted to purchase Money Essentials and install over the previous version 2005 Standard I was using with XP. I have several current copies of may main .mny file from the 2005 Standard days but can't get any to open with Money Essentials. The error states that previous versions of money files can't be opened by Money Essentials. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks, j a c k |
