My recall of an update for TC05 was that it downloads a program that's
actually external to Money. It may be called by Money, and look like
Money's running, but it's only for the export function.

You may well be required to download another update before the final
release version of TC06.

My memory is vague (this was a while ago, right?), but the update was benign

Thanks Cal,

I'm using the program. The update seems freindly, I was just curious
whether anyone was familiar with what it actually does - doesn't seem to
introduce any spyware anyways.

When you say TaxCut, are you referring to the program or the online
service?

If you don't like what happens otherwise,
Taxes-> TaxTools-> ExportToTaxSoftware

When you get to the appropriate spot, you can choose
ExportYourTaxInformationAsA_TXF_File. That file can be imported into
the TaxCut program.

Default I'm using the TaxCut 2006

I find TaxCut 2006 to have a much better interface than previous versions,
however I'm curious when importing Money 2006 data into TaxCut, it forces you
to download an update to Money and run the program. Has anyone any idea
what the "update" is actually doing? I noticed that 2 days later when I
wanted to import more data from Money to TaxCut it forced me to again run
this update.

My gut feeling is that it is actually setting up the 2006 data to be
imported as I remember last year I had to manipulate the Money data so that
TaxCut would look at 2005 data, and not 2004 data.
