Thus you might have _BrownInvestment.qif and BrownInvestmentCash.qif. This would cause the investment account to be processed prior to the associated cash account. When the BrownInvestment got created, you would specify that you want to track the cash transactions. Then specify that the cash transactions account for BrownInvestment was where the BrownInvestmentCash.qif transactions get sent. Then File-> Import ALL AT ONCE using Ctrl+<click> to select files. Specify "New or Recovered" account when asked. Of course you will use a different filename for the new file, and you will have both versions to choose from when done. I would also set up the backups to make sure they are using different names. - quote - > Tom > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message > news:3u9pm291t4bnkfku4uoua0rl8v5g9hv2dh[at]4ax.com... > > In microsoft.public.money, Tom Harvey wrote: > > > > > > Where can I get salv.exe from newer version? | Cal, That is the same salv.exe that I used. I guess I will have to export/import my various accounts to overcome this damage. | Art, Thanks for the input, but I was trying to change the category of an electronic transfer from a broker account (that is not part of my MS Money file) into my bank account. Sometimes that transfer is partly non-taxable income, but MS Money automatically uses the last category to assign a category for the new transaction. | Tom - If you are using the banks electronic payment as connected to Money then only certain fields can be changed. The unchangeable fields are grayed out to indicate you can not change them. I have found that if I set up a bill pay then I am not allowed to change any entry except the comments field and the category. Not certain if this is you issue. You can install Money 2007, including trial. It would typically be> salv.exe for my repairs so far. in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\MNYCoreFiles" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902466/en-us has a link labeled "Download the M06-Repair.exe package now." |

You could try the salv.exe from a newer version.> to change them I get a message that says: "This transaction cannot be > entered. Money could not write to your Money file. | Hello, One of my MS Money files has some entries that cannot be changed. If I try to change them I get a message that says: "This transaction cannot be entered. Money could not write to your Money file. The operation cannot be performed or another application finished the task before you . Please try again." This only happens with some of my entries, not all. (The entries were downloaded from a banking site, but other downloaded entries are not affected.) I have used the repair utility at two levels and the problem persists. By internet searching I have found reference to a third, deeper level of repair, but I cannot find the software needed to try that fix. Any suggestions? TIA, Tom |
