| Dick, Thanks for the detailed step by step instructions. I would like to step back and make a short summary of what I think you said. Please confirm or correct. Note that I currently do not have a JP Morgan Investment Account. The JP Morgan NY Tax Free Money Market Fund is the only JP Morgan Fund I own (along with a number of Chase Bank accounts). I think that you suggested that I create a new JP Morgan Chase Investment Account with an associated Cash account. Then I should cut each transaction from MMF account that is now under Chase Banking and paste it into the Cash account of the JPM Chase Investment account. Then I should create an JPM NY Tax Free MMF Investment in that account. Finally I should make a buy into that investment using all the current funds in the Cash Account. I can now download all future transactions in the MMF into the Investment, but all the previous transactions going back to 1996 will be in the associated cash account. (As a slight variation, I can play with what date over the past few months I do the buy into the investment and start downloading the transactions) Again, please confirm that I understood what you suggested. -- Peace, BobJ "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:ez3y4IuEHHA.4060[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > I think the real issue here is that you have cash transactions and you'd > need to convert these to Buy/Sell/Reinvest Dividend Investment > transactions. | I've gone this way (with Vanguard) and the other way (with Northern Trust) -- I don't think there's an easy way to do it -- Michael Gordon "Marilyn & Bob" <Privacy[at]nospam.please> wrote in message news:uRBl91qEHHA.3596[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > I am tracking in Money 2006 a JP Morgan Chase Money Market fund that I > created in 1996 as a bank account and have been maintaining as such. | I think the real issue here is that you have cash transactions and you'd need to convert these to Buy/Sell/Reinvest Dividend Investment transactions. Given this, no amount of moving transactions will do it. They would have to be fundamentally redone. What I'd do, if I wanted to download the data and the way the MMF insisted on coming down as an investment: 1) create the new Investment Account with an associated Cash Account. I don't think you can just pick an existing account, but I can't recall. If you can, maybe you can skip step #2. 2) I'd move the transaction history for the MMF to the Investment Cash account, one transactions at a time, using R-click Cut and Paste transaction to the new cash account. It might be helpful to temporarily rename the cash account to something like "AAAAA real account name" just to make the moves simpler by getting this account to the top of the pick list for the move. Then you can use the context menu, P, return keystrokes. Three strokes. Transaction moved. Repeat. 3) At the point just prior to where you want to start treating the MMF as an Investment, I'd do a Buy Investment/CD from the Investment Cash Account to the Investment Account for the MMF Investment in the amount of the starting MMF balance. I'd probably even put a note in the memo about how this transaction marked a change in how you were accounting for the MMF. | I am tracking in Money 2006 a JP Morgan Chase Money Market fund that I created in 1996 as a bank account and have been maintaining as such. I would now like to change it to an investment account so I can download the transactions to this account which is categorized as an investment on JP Morgan's website. So I would like to create a new investment account to which I would move the 150 or so transactions that are now in the bank account. I looked at the FAQ, but *I* couldn't find a method. Is there a way to do this? I am will to make 500 key/mouse presses for these 150 transactions, but not 10,000+ if I have to retype everything. -- Peace, BobJ |
