| The big issue is that your existing data file won't upgrade and any attempt to migrate the data will require an extensive manual process that loses a lot of data along the way. Every other issue probably pales by comparison. But the UK folks, primarily Glyn Simpson and Bob Peel would better be able to address the details. | Given the limited upgrade choices and the unknown future of MS Money in the UK market, is it possible to take my M04 UK edition and upgrade to M05/M06 US edition? I don't specially use Money to connect to the UK banks for statements. However I do use the portfolio to get updated prices on UK securities/funds. What are the drawbacks to upgrading to M05/M06 US version, if that is feasible? What are the UK specific features that I miss out on by migrating to US version of Money? | The UK folks might have some better answers, but here's what it appears like from the colonies. 2006 UK is unlikely at best. 2007 UK is also unlikely at best. Nobody knows> since > early 2005. The changes from M05 to M06 and M07 are minor. It may rearrange some of your> of? categories silently. M06/7 are less insistent that the Essential * modes are what most users prefer. M07 does add a new tool for clearing out accumulated trash stuck in the file that has been remarkably effective at shrinking files and improving performance and stability for **some** users. The cost to use this method is a lot of manual effort re-entering all of your scheduled bill information. - quote - > 3. Is the upgrade to MS Money 2006 'smoother' if I first upgrade to 2006
I assume you meant via M05 to M06. From M04 it should make no difference.> or > it makes not difference? But there is no M06/7 UK for you to upgrade to. - quote - > 4. When can I expect MS Money 2006 UK version to be available?
When h*** freezes over? The jury is still out on M08 for the UK. As notedabove, even an M07 UK seems highly unlikely at this late date, though I'm not sure there has been an official pronouncement on the subject. |

| I am currently using MS Money 2004 (UK version) and have been doing so since early 2005. I generally upgrade to the latest version of Money at the start of each year, but haven't done so in 2006 because of issues I have read about on the upgrade to 2005. The questions I have are: 1. Should I upgrade to MS Money 2005 (UK version) or wait for 2006 UK version? 2. If I upgrade to MS Money 2005 or 2006 - what issues should I be aware of? 3. Is the upgrade to MS Money 2006 'smoother' if I first upgrade to 2006 or it makes not difference? 4. When can I expect MS Money 2006 UK version to be available? Manish |
