| I know it's Chase Bank. They admit that they have a problem. It actually started mid October. Perhaps you have not done a manual deposit since then, so that is wy you haven't noticed it yet.. This thread was about a work around. -- Peace, BobJ "Paul Shapiro" <paul[at]hideme.broadwayData.com> wrote in message news:O$3sLC%23EHHA.1240[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > I think it's Chase Bank. | OK, I finally made the deposit yesterday and updated my file this morning. Here is what I discovered. I ended up with 3 downloaded transactions, two for $456.50 and one for $456.00. One was matched to my manually entered deposit which I Accepted. Then I selected Change on the second one for $456.50, found the correct entry in the list and clicked OK. Did the same for the $456.00 one. It changed the transaction amount to $456.00 but allowed me to edit it to add the 50¢. So now everything was fine. Only one transaction, correctly named. Perfect. **BUT**, I then did another download and the two phantom deposits reappeared. So that method is completely useless. The only solution is to VOID these transactions like I did in the past. After the deposits clear (in about a week, depending on the amount), it seems that you can delete the VOIDED transactions without the phantom ones reappearing. -- Peace, BobJ "Vadim Rapp" <vr[at]myrealbox.nospam.com> wrote in message news:ufRZQl4DHHA.4208[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > Hello Marilyn, > You wrote in conference microsoft.public.money on Thu, 23 Nov 2006 > 11:52:29 -0500: > MB> Are you saying that you can match the duplicate deposits with an > MB> *already* matched (and perhaps reconciled) transaction? > Yes, and that even brings some inconvenience: looking at the list of > potential matches, it's hard to tell already-accepted transaction from > next due bill from b&d - they are all in one pile. This has only been my experience when downloading QIF format.> That's true at least under some circumstances, because I know that I've > done it. But I have not seen this work with OFX format. The difference is that the OFX format has a unique transaction ID where QIF does not. Once an OFX transaction ID is associated with a transaction, Money no longer allows you to match that transaction with new transactions. |

Yes, and that even brings some inconvenience: looking at the list of potential matches, it's hard to tell already-accepted transaction from next due bill from b&d - they are all in one pile. I hope I have convinced MS to highlight them somehow in the next version. Vadim Rapp |

| I'm going to make a manual deposit tomorrow (or if I don't get a chance, Monday or Tuesday). The deposit has a cents amount. This will give me a duplicate (and triplicate) transaction to test what works. I'll report back as soon as I know. -- Peace, BobJ "Chris Cowles" <spam_magnet[at]remove-me-bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:ezMoht1DHHA.3224[at]TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... - quote - > In my experience you can, if the previous match was already accepted. > That's true at least under some circumstances, because I know that I've > done it. > -- > Chris Cowles > Gainesville, FL > "Michael Gordon" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> wrote in message > news:uG%238fr0DHHA.3536[at]TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > > I've not been having any problems with Chase, but I don't think you can > > match a transaction with an already matched one. |

| In my experience you can, if the previous match was already accepted. That's true at least under some circumstances, because I know that I've done it. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL "Michael Gordon" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> wrote in message news:uG%238fr0DHHA.3536[at]TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... - quote - > I've not been having any problems with Chase, but I don't think you can > match a transaction with an already matched one. |

| I've not been having any problems with Chase, but I don't think you can match a transaction with an already matched one. -- Michael Gordon "Marilyn & Bob" <Privacy[at]nospam.please> wrote in message news:ePioC$xDHHA.4604[at]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... - quote - > Are you saying that you can match the duplicate deposits with an *already* > matched (and perhaps reconciled) transaction? | Are you saying that you can match the duplicate deposits with an *already* matched (and perhaps reconciled) transaction? If so, how does one deal with the problem of the non matching cents amount? -- Peace, BobJ "Vadim Rapp" <vr[at]myrealbox.nospam.com> wrote in message news:O%23gf%23WsDHHA.3212[at]TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... - quote - > MB> As I said, deleting the transactions is futile. | Since the middle of October when Chase/Bank One "upgraded" their system, I have been getting duplicate and triplicate deposit transactions showing up in my Money file automatically downloaded from the bank into Money (note that the deposits, don't show up on the web, only the OFX file). If the deposits are not a whole dollar amount, the triplicate entry is the whole dollar value without the cents. If I delete them, the reappear on the next download. The problem does not occur with withdrawals or with direct deposits, only with manual ones. I called Chase, and after having me do some tweaks which did nothing, they finally admitted that it was a problem at their end. As of yesterday, there was no ETA on the fix. I assume others have had this problem as well. As I said, deleting the transactions is futile. The workaround I use is to accept, then VOID the extra transactions. For my information and minor emotional satisfaction, I enter the code: "SNAFU" in the number column and set the Payee to "Chase Screwup" and the category to "VOID". -- Peace, BobJ |
