OK. That would explain the difference. Money 2004 Standard was setto expire a year before Deluxe/Premium/Business. See Help-> About-> OnlineServicesPolicy. |

| Money is not backwards compatible. So M2004 cannot read a file produced by a later version. The password thing is Money's way of telling you this. A more sensible error message appears in later versions. As Cal says you can find the backup that was made at the time you upgraded, but you will have to reinput all transactions since you upgraded. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. There was an automatic backup of your Money 2004 file (named *.m12)> 2004 it asks me for my password to open the money file. I have tried all my > passwords, including my passport.net password and it will not accept. I > really would hate to start over made during conversion to the later version of Money. You can copy that *.m12 file to *.mny and open that *.mny with Money 2004. It will have what Money 2004 had at the time of conversion. |

| Money 2004 was not going through Passport, MSN, or Live ID. Microsoft online services agreement in the software states that the online portion of the software will only work for three years. My problem is that id did not work for the stated period! Once it shuts down, you can not access ANYTHING online. Stock quotes, currency's, the browser in the software, software updates, a third party bill pay service, NOTHING. After that, it is just a manual check register! - quote - > VR wrote: Many major banks support Money directly, not through MSN. How about Chase? Major enough? "Vadim Rapp" wrote: - quote - > B> So.. | Thanks Bob... Your suggestion is among one that Microsoft Support gave me. It did not work. It may be that this fix will remove the reminder but my online access was actually terminated. A catch 22: Because my online access was terminated, (again with no warning or expiration reminder), the software will no longer connect to the internet for any updates. So if I choose update now, it takes a milibleem to complete and when I read the message log, it tells me that I no longer have online access. See what I mean? Maybe the parameter or what ever is in the data file?? What is the expiration file name? Maybe I could restore it from an image backup and try an update again. Actually I have done a few uninstalls and installs jumping back and forth from 2004 - 2007. I would guess that it is not a file at all but maybe a registry entry. If it were a file, It should have been removed in the uninstall. Another FYI in regards to the Transaction ID.. I just called the bank again to see if they need to know that I have different software to use the trans ID. They said Nope.. They also said that I am not the first to call with this situation and it is definitely on Microsoft's end. The bank generates the ID, and MSM does not take this data or use it, it inserts "epay" in the field. The bank does not use "epay" in any data on their end so it can not be coming from the bank "Bob Peel, MVP" wrote: - quote - > There was an error in one of the expiration files for M2004. | Thanks for the response.. Can't take back the software. I purchased it at a retailer that does not accept returns on open software. If say the CD could not be read, they would give you a new identical copy but no refunds. I disagree with you on the bank using "epay". This is a function of MSM. It is not passing the available data to this field. If I log onto my banks website, the transaction ID is displayed. It is only displayed if the transaction is on the website. For instance, If I select to pay a bill 10 days from now and it takes two days to process, the transaction will not show up on the website until the two days before processing. Then on the website, it has a status of "pending". Once the transaction is made, then it has a transaction ID.. This is on the bank website. It has always been in the payment status field of money 2004 and prior. I also have been using Money for years and years. It's there. All this was confirmed by both my bank and Microsoft when I ran into this with 2006. FYI.. Right click on a completed transaction (does not have to be cleared, just transmitted). A drop down pops up and one of the selections is "payment status". Click that and among other things, the transaction ID is displayed or should be as opposed to "epay" As far as "now that they fixed it" in regards to 04 shutting down early, I have been on the phone and e-mailing MS support all week. Uninstalling, reinstalling, updating, closing, reopening MSM2004 following all of supports instructions is NOT allowing me to regain the online access. I even e-mailed MS a copy of my purchase receipt showing that I purchased it nowhere near three years ago. All this would mean nothing to me if 2007 supported the transaction ID. This is important to me. Because this is my "Rant!" post. I believe that new upgraded, updated, whatever should be AT LEAST as functional as the version it is intending to replace. 2007 is not. No Pocket PC software, two years of online access not three as 2004 has, and then the issue of the trans ID. This was not a free upgrade or even an upgrade with an upgrade price. I had to purchase a full version. Thank you for your suggestions. "Marilyn & Bob" wrote: - quote - > Here's what you should do. | Here's what you should do. Stop using 2007 and return it for a refund (I think you have 30 days after purchase to do this). Then go back to M2004 (you should get your full three years now that they fixed it, although that might not be much longer, depending on when you installed it) OR install your already purchased copy of 2006. You should have three years from the first time you installed it, probably around another two years. I don't know about the transaction ID. I've been using Money since 1996 and never had the transaction number show up in my register. Perhaps that was because, until recently, my bank assigned a unique check number to all of my Epays. The bank has stopped doing this, and all I get is the same "Epay" now for all of my transactions. You'll get used to it. Or if it is that important to you, copy and paste it into your memo field when you create the Epay. That's the best I can suggest. -- Peace, BobJ "Barryware" <Barryware[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:82DAE81C-C0B2-45AF-9072-80DBF6F49F65[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > OK... | OK... Microsoft shut down my online access in Money 2004 EARLY WITH NO WARNING. From similar posts judging by the date of the post(s), it seems to be wide spread. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with 3 years from install or an exact date, which ever is earlier as stated in the agreement. MSM support has not been able to help fix my issue. They have responded but all suggestions were followed to no avail. I see the same fix I was provided seemed to work for some others but not for me. So.. I purchase and install MSM 2007 deluxe. Instead of 3 years of online access as 2004 deluxe had, now there are 2 years in 07 deluxe. There is no pocket PC software included which I use. (not any more I guess). There is no longer a Transaction ID in the "payment status" when right clicking on a completed online transaction in the register. Version 2004 would have a nine character ID, version shows "epay". If there were an issue with an online payment, how could it be tracked or verified? I decided to upgrade to 2006 last year. This version had the same transaction ID issue. I immediatly went back to 2004. I would have assumed the this issue should have been fixed by now. Done with my Rant.. |
