| I suspect the delay is simply dollar related. In the same way that most "free" stock updates are delayed by 15 mins you can for a pile of dollars get real-time prices. Similarly for funds. I guess Quicken are paying their supplier more than MS are paying theirs. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Thanks, I guess this is a good alternative. Especially since I can't get the update prices during the same day anyway. I know Quicken is able to retrieve the prices the same night after 9pm or 10pm. I wonder why MS takes longer? I do have missing history so it's too bad I can't import it =). | Usually most mutual fund prices are updated by the following day but not always. You can see a fund's performance on any given day by creating a performance report (e.g. Performance by Investment Account) and setting both the "from" and "to" dates to the day you are looking for. As long as you have downloaded your share prices daily, this will give you what you're looking for. "smurfgun" wrote: - quote - > Thanks for the reply. > I'm starting to understand the problem. | Thanks for the reply. I'm starting to understand the problem. For stocks, it works as you say and it is great. But for my mutual funds, it seems the closing price for the day is not available till the next day or maybe even the day after that! For example, I loaded up money today and it downloaded some mutual fund quotes for a couple days ago. So, if I look at "todays" performance, it shows nothing for mutual funds. I guess this is fine. But can I see "yesterday's" performance? i.e. a TotalChng field for a specified date? I hope this makes sense. There is a "as of date" field on the top right in the performance page but if I change it to past days, the totalchng field is left blank. Thanks again, "Wally" wrote: - quote - > Any time you update the price of a stock it gives you the current price ( > from about half an hour ago or so) and the difference between that and the > previous day's close in the investment summary which you can show on your > home page. | Any time you update the price of a stock it gives you the current price ( from about half an hour ago or so) and the difference between that and the previous day's close in the investment summary which you can show on your home page. In the reports it will show the difference between the most recent downloaded price and the previous one. Remember that stock prices are updated as they change throughout the day, but mutual funds only report the previous day's close. The difference between the previous day's close and the day before that is what is shown in the summary. In the reports it will be the difference between the previous day's download (if you download today) and the next most recent download. | Hi, I own a US stock and every day, it tells me how the stock does. i.e. the change in value of the stock from the previous day. Does it look at the day's price change to calculate this information or does it take the difference between today's price and yesterday's price I downloaded. Anyway, I have canadian mutual funds and they never give me this data. Any ideas why it isn't? Thanks, |
