| I did the "nuking" thing. Made no difference as I only have one bill set up. | Glad you got your problem sorted out. Thanks for the feedback. If you didn't get that far already, you might still try Nuke-the-Bills on a copy just to see what your results are. In my case they were immediate and stunning. | Well Dick you hit the nail on the head, as usual. I did as you suggested, what fixed it was the Standard Repair. Started at 187MB and after repair my data file is now 24MB! Checked all accounts, reports etc and all data is there. You do a wonderful job here and I just want you to know I appreciate it. You have helped me many times over the years. | Thanks for the information. I was just surprised at how big my Money 2007 file size is. I back up daily, on multiple media (SD Card, ZIP Drive and External HDD). So far the file opens as fast as my 2004 file did. But was very surprised that the 2007 file tripled in size. Not really having any issues with the file, but then again I just started using 2007 yesterday. | Nuke the bills is a blunt instrument to use for cleanup. It works, but has negative ramifications you need to consider before doing it. It deletes all scheduled bills and deposits, including those already 'deleted'. It's the only way to fix some problems and generally improves performance. Without it, Money doesn't really delete bills; it hides them. The reason for that is some bills may have had an expiration, (frequency = "only once"; limited number of transactions; no longer needed, etc.) but affected the budget. Actually deleting them removes that historical effect on the budget, which could be the current budget year. That adversely affects your budget, but may actually *fix* some related budget problems related to ghost bills. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. Backup. | After I did the Nuke-The-Bills thing, mine shrank. Three months later, it's still smaller than the M04 file was. (now: 57,704 kB, was: 68,104 kB.) Normal? Who knows? Doesn't sound like it, but my dataset for "normal" is limited. | I usually backup my Money file every night to a Zip Disk. Tonight when it was backing up the Zip disk was ejected and I was told insert a new disk as this one is full. I checked the size of the Money 2007 data file and it is 179MB!!!!! My money 2004 file was 41MB. Is this normal for 2007? Thanks |
