| The backup strategy has been changed as a result of many many users only having one or two floppies and having just overwritten their last good backup find they need to restore as a result of the Money file dying. If you must use floppies treat your self to a box of 10 and cycle them. Better still use a memory stick or two. | For years I have backed up to 3.5" floppies when using Money. I also back up to a Zip Disk Daily, and a External HDD every time I close the file. I have years worth of information that I do not want to lose. Today I let the Money 2004 no online support slip up on me. So I downloaded Money 2007 Deluxe. Installed fine, can not update to SP1 but I understand it is on Microsoft's end, not mine. Anyway, I back up the floppies every Saturday. So after Money 2007 converted my 2004 file and I went to close Money it asked if I wanted to update. (Money 2007 remembered the settings from 2004) When I put the floppy in, I was told there was not enough room on the floppy. Weird, Money 2004 just overwrote the old file. Well someone must have complained as now Money 2007 will not overwrite the file. You have to manually erase each floppy (I use 7 floppies for my 41MB compressed to 8MB file). I had 2 sets of floppies and would alternate each week and take to work. So much for that. Oh well, progress I guess... |
