If you do decide to use M06...DO NOT...buy the Essentials version. It will
not convert files from previous versions.

Longtime Money user also! Too bad M04 is no longer supported. Possibly the
best version MS has ever produced, IMO. But then I did most of my banking
manually, only using the online functions for my portfolio. Anyway, I
recently upgraded to M06 (it came preinstalled on a new laptop along with
Quicken 06), and after using it for a month or so I recommend that you try
it. The changes seem to be mostly cosmetic with a few annoying quirks - for
example, I can't make it stop asking if I want to "Enter" a transaction even
after I hit the Enter key in the transaction register. I was able to import
my records from a backup without a hitch (keep in mind that M04 was never
installed on this machine). I don't see a whole lot of improvements, just
differences that you will get used to by using it. Can't speak for M07
since I have never tried it.

P.S. I installed my check register only into Quicken 06 so that I could
compare the two, and I still prefer Money, but that may be because I am
used to it. Probably going to stick with Money until MS forces us to use
Passport or Live or whatever they now call it.

I also just received the message today warning me that the online
services were going to expire in December. I suppose the only
alternatives are upgrade, or just start doing everything by hand (or
switch programs).

Default Money 2004 Deluxe Online Services Expiration

I just lost the ability to obtain updated quotes from Microsoft's
online services. Today, a message appeared in Money saying that the
online service offering has expired for this version of Microsoft
Money. I've demo'ed MS Money 2005, 2006 and 2007 and none can compare
to 2004. Does anyone know of a workaround to this terrible forced
upgrade?

Thanks,

Ethan
