| Cal, Your first suggestion..."work offline in IE"...solved it. I have just discovered this forum...what a treasure trove of information. I can't believe I have never found it before...after over ten years of using MS Money. Thanks for your prompt and knowledgeable response. | I am echoing Jim's question. I have been a MS Money user since 1995 and have upgraded every year or two and am presently running 2007 Premium on my laptop and desktop. I know that MS incorporated several functions online that used to be available offline.....loan comparisons for instance...but there are times when I would like to be able to use Money offline...especially when I am traveling and do not have internet access. There is a bullet on the Money startup page that would seem to allow opening the Money file offline but it will not work for me on desktop or laptop. It takes me to a screen that wants an internet connection. What am I doing wrong? "Jim" wrote: - quote - > Bob, > Perhaps I mis-spoke and I am sorry for that. If you want to remove the Windows Live ID from a file you may have to turn off background banking at Tools-> Settings-> ReceiveAccountUpdatesFromMSNMoneyMyAccounts and then File-> PasswordManager you can choose to remove your WindowsLiveID. To remove a conventional password, see File-> PasswordManager. To create a new file with no LiveID, select Decline during setup. |

| Bob, Perhaps I mis-spoke and I am sorry for that. What I am referring is during the initial log-on screen to Money I have to be logged on to an internet before. If I am not logged on to an internet, Money will not allow me to use the program. For example: Without being logged-on to the internet, I use my e-mail address and my password and check the box "work off line". When I click "sign-in", I get a message telling me I must be logged-on to the internet to use Money. When I am logged-on to the interent, I have not problem accessing Money 2007. I hope you understand what is happening. Jim "Bob Peel, MVP" wrote: - quote - > I have never had a Live Id associated with my Money file. | I have never had a Live Id associated with my Money file. It is only needed if you want to download data from your Bank into Money. If you can go directly to your Bank's web-site and pull down a file to your PC, then you can import that into Money. See http://umpmfaq.info/faq.html#Q16 -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | Folks, I have been using Money since approximately 1998. I really like the program, but in the past couple of years the program comes with this requirement to have a live connection to the internet. I really DO NOT LIKE THIS FUNCTION. I have tried to use the "work off line", and I still get the "must be connect" mesage. Is there a way to turn off the Live ID? I would like to do so. I was thinking of purchasing Money 2007 until I read the same Live ID is still on the program. I will just keep Money 2006 for the time. If after a couple of years the Live ID continues, I will probaby switch software. Please provide a way to disable this function. I like the software, but I hope it does not come to changing down to changing software. Thanks, Jim Rogers ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
