Default Re: Investment Transactions Activity

Yes, I'm putting all my efforts in learning/setting up things correctly.
It's not that easy but I am getting there so it's enjoyable.

Thanks, I'll come back to this a bit later.

These tell Money how to treat the entry and are not mutable. The list is
what it is.

Other Expense is kinda like a category--indeed, I think it is mapped to a
Category somewhere in the bowels of Tools|Settings--but most are more
complicated. (Reinvest Dividend, for instance, is treated like a combined
Investment Income : Dividend and a Buy.)

If you just want to update the Investment Account balances from
time-to-time, I'd recommend that you go to the Investment Account Summary
and use the Update Account link at the bottom of the page. It will ask
current share balances and values for those shares and adjust the quantity
of shares of the various investments (using the Add Shares and Remove Shares
activities) and the price per share and even the balance of the Investment
Cash Account all at the same time. (Can't say as I remember how it
categorizes the increases/decreases in the cash account. But it does
somehow.)

Having written that, I fear that I may have given you a crash course in
advanced details when we still aren't grounded in the fundamentals of what
an Investment account is for and how it works. Perhaps I shouldn't worry.
Slowly but surely we seem to be getting you there. I hope you are enjoying
the course. There will be a test at the end of the quarter. But it seems
like you are putting forth great effort on the homework.

Default Investment Transactions Activity

Under Investment Accounts> Investment Transactions> Activity, there is a drop
menu with a variety of items. Where are these defined? If you were just
using Investment Transctions screen to update the account balances from time
to time, would "Other Expense" be a good 'Activity' to select? Is this like
a Category?

I can't quite understand where these fit into the bigger picture.

Thank you.
