So you tried upgrading from 2000 straight to 2006 and it didn't work?

I wish I can find some of these older versions of Money. I just need them
for conversion purposes!

If you can get your hands on a copy of Money 2003 Canadian and convert your
2000 file to it then upgrade to Money 2006 it will work (or it has for me,
was able to upgrade to Money 2006 Deluxe). If necessary you may have to
*ahem* find a copy floating around online.

I read this too. It's one of the reasons I upgraded to Money 2007 Deluxe
trial version. I just wish I could find out why MS doesn't want to sell the
paid version to Canadian customers and when or if they are going to release
it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've read this article before. Do you have any
comments on why I can't import money 2000? I've started a new data file with
1 account and 1 transaction. I cannot import this into money 2007.

Thanks again,

Thanks.

Anybody convert 2000 CAN to 2006 CAN and know this to work?

I did convert a Canadian Money 2006 file with Money 2007 Deluxe trial
edition. The file had a chequing account, a credit card account, and half a
dozen investment accounts one of which was in American dollars. All other
accounts were in Canadian dollars. The conversion worked flawlessly. It
carried over all my transactions and many years of stock quotes withour any
problems.

Wally,

I see another post by you in another thread. Did you convert a money 2006
data file? If so, I'll have to think about taking the risk in buying 2006
CAN first. And re-evaluating whether I need 2007. With that said, is there
any demo's for older versions of money? that way I can convert to a newer
version and then try to convert to 2007.

Thanks,

Right. In Money 2000, I have the currencies correct. The bank account is
CAN and the cash accound is USD. When I import the QIF into money 2007, it
lets me create new accounts but it will not allow me to change the currency
at that time. Because of this, I thought I would try creating the accounts
first in 2007 since it will let me correctly choose the currencies. Now,
when I import, it errors out.

As far as I know if they release it to Canada it will be its own version the
way the file is branded and such will cause the issue I dont understand the
reason why it will not direct convert just know what I told.

My understanding was that it will be the same, and that Canadians would have
to simply find workarounds for the differences in terminology and tax issues.
Even the so-called Canadian versions of the program contained a lot of
American terminology. As I don't use Money directly for calculating my
income tax, I'm not sure what the issues are there.

If I don't create the account first, it won't let me create the account
during the import with a different currency....

What if we change the currency in 2000 then setup the account up in 2007 and
reset the currency?

The 2007 release for canada will actually be different than the release for
US? I thought the idea was they would be the same? If they are different,
then I'll wait. But if they are ultimately the same, why wasn't I able to do
the conversion with the 90 day trial of 2007?

Btw, I did a little test. In Money 2000, I created a US cash account and a
canadian bank account. I did a transfer between the two. Then I exported
both accounts. In money 2007, I created the exact same accounts (with
different currencies as well). When I import, it coughs on importing the
canadian bank account. It complains that some transaction information is
missing and cannot import it.

Thanks for the quick reply,

They will not be exactly the same for instance catergories the states and
canada do not call everything by the same name, also tax calculations income
tax calculations are different which causes issues .
As far as the import goes just create the account in 2000 export it from
there then go File> Import> recover account in 2007 dont create the account
first create it while its importing

Accually when 2007 is released for canada you can go from money 2000 right
into 2007 with the export import it is hit or miss it may work it may not
would depend on interest rates set and currencies set I would suggest just
waitin for the 07 and try the conversion first if it doesnt work then go
with the export import 2000-2007 works most times but there is always the
chance so when you install the 07 do not remove the 00 until u know it is
working correctly

So, to be clear, I will need to convert to Money 2006 canadian first. And
then I would be able to convert to money 2007?

I would go the export route, but I worried about the information lost when
going this route. For example, would it handle currency changes properly
when transfering between accounts of different currency?

Thanks for the replies
