| Why don't you set up a completely separate file for your imaginary portfolio? In it, set up one investment account with your initial "pot" in the cash account part of that investment account. Then go do your thing with that money and see how much you gain or lose. -- Peace, BobJ "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:ele8WcIBHHA.4592[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > Maybe there should be, but I don't think the design intends to provide any > support for model portfolios using Watch Accounts. > "bdeg" <bdeg[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:7CC57C07-08EE-4613-A032-42E799424C0D[at]microsoft.com... > > There should be some way of displaying the "sold" > > stocks and monitoring realized gains when you sell all shares. |

| Why not create an account and call it whatever you want? Then you can track the info for all transactions through a customized report. | Maybe there should be, but I don't think the design intends to provide any support for model portfolios using Watch Accounts. | I understand the intent of watch accounts and that keeping 1 share in a stock will keep it on display. After a while, however, if you're using the account as a test portfolio, all those single share stocks begin to throw off your numbers and you have to keep figuring in those single shares at the sale price (not current price). There should be some way of displaying the "sold" stocks and monitoring realized gains when you sell all shares. | a watch account isn't REAL money, so buy a share of each and leave it there. It's just "pretend money". When you don't want to see it , edit the view to HIDE watch account ( right-click on header above the stock info - then Customize or Edit view or whatever it's called) "bdeg" <bdeg[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2FC1DCA1-49BB-4AB3-8E7D-7E956E421D1E[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I've set up a watch account to use as a model for an investing > strategy I'd > like to try. | I've set up a watch account to use as a model for an investing strategy I'd like to try. In doing so, I want to be able to track theoretical purchases and sales of individual stocks. I want to track sales and realized gains on my Account Summary window, so I've customized my view to do that. After entering a purchase, the stock shows up just fine on my account summary, but after I sell all shares, it no longer shows up so I'm not able to track realized gains. How can I get Money to continue to display the stocks I no longer "own" in my watch account? |
