However, I noted that if I deleted the quotes for Fri and Sat (11/3 and 11/4), that the 11/3 quote would download as expected. It seems as if when I download from my Brokerage (Fidelity), the quotes are getting updated possibly from the brokerage download. This is not necessarily a bad thing. However, I would expect that the quotes would get updated from the "online" source after the market opened. When this problem occurred the first time, the quotes did NOT get updated on 11/3 after the market opened until I used the /BASEVIDEO ploy. I will have to wait until Monday to see what happens -- whether they update automatically, or if I have to use the /BASEVIDEO method. Anyone else seeing anything like this?? --ron |

| I ran into an interesting quote download problem today. I built a new machine yesterday -- Windows XP Pro SP2. It has dual monitors but otherwise similar to my previous machine. I installed M2007 on it and copied over my *.mny file. It seemed to work fine. Sometime after midnight (i.e. on 11/3/2006), I did online updates. All of my accounts downloaded OK. Curiously, though, in Portfolio Manager the pricing of the stocks was not correct. Using the manual update option, I determined that every equity had a price for 11/3/2006 but, instead of being the source being marked "online", they were marked "update". The prices were the closing prices from 11/1. They were possibly obtained from the Fidelity download. At this point, doing an automatic update over the Internet would not result in any new prices being downloaded. However, if I deleted the price from 11/3, then the new and correct price would get downloaded. This same behavior (failure to update an 11/3 stock price when the source was marked as "update" persisted after market opening this morning. On to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873204/en-us How to troubleshoot problems with investment quotes There are ten steps. I, of course, started with step 10 :-)) Step 10: Test the online updates by using VGA Mode To enable VGA Mode on your computer, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. 2. On the BOOT.INI tab, click to select the /BASEVIDEO check box, and then click OK. 3. Restart the computer, and then test online updates again. Lo and behold, and to my amazement, run MS Money 2007 in VGA mode resulted in a clearing of the logjam and the downloading of quotes. And returning to normal mode did not interfere with this. WTF is going on here? --ron |
