| If you have foreign transactions, I can see where that would add up. I don't, so don't care. My Chase card debits my checking account for the balance once per month. If there's a difference in grace period, that only matters on the first month. After that, it's still 30 day intervals from the last payment. Since my monthly balance is fairly consistent, it's like having a permanent interest free loan for several thousand dollars. (I make *all* retail purchases on the same account.) I get 1% consistently from Chase. I probably could get more from another vendor, but I might have to play the game where I switch to a different card once I hit an annual threshold, or something like that. Honestly, I haven't even investigated getting better. I have a check in my wallet right now for several hundred dollars cash, so I know it adds up to real money. | That may be true, but Chase charges a 3% surcharge (over and above the exchange fee) for credit and debit card uses outside the US, even if the transaction is in US dollars. And Chase has only a 20 day grace period. My two MBNA credit cards have a 25 and 30 day grace period and do not have a surcharge for foreign transactions. And the MBNA cards give a small amount to not-for-profits of my choice. Not to mention the Reward Points I get for every purchase. I am not willing to give all of that up for real time downloads. (Note that I have checking, savings and an IRA with Chase, but I no longer use their credit cards, although they sit in my drawer). -- Peace, BobJ "Chris Cowles" <spam_magnet[at]remove-me-bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:u6fvfpu$GHA.4496[at]TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... - quote - > You need not be tied to a card branded by Quicken or Money. | You need not be tied to a card branded by Quicken or Money. I didn't even know there was a 'Money' card, but don't doubt it. You can find a card branded by your dog, if you look long enough. I've used a Chase VISA for years and have no problems downloading. I have no evidence that they plan to change. (The CEO has not called me yet.) I also download several CitiBank credit cards. | Transactions from MBNA were available for download only as 'statements'. I.e, at the end of the monthly cycle only. The description of BoA seems the same. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL "Mark Horn" <mark[at]hornclan.com> wrote in message news:slrnekk6op.1fc.mark[at]home.hornclan.com... - quote - > On 2006-11-02, pcfawo[at]yahoo.com <pcfawo[at]yahoo.com> wrote: > > In other words if I > > want to track expenses during the month I will have to manually enter > > all of my credit card transactions. | Mark, FYI, you can see the current credit card transactions on the web page BUT there is no way of downloading them. If you click on the download button on the page a dropdown box opens asking what is the date of the Statement you wish to download, with the most recent date being that closing date of the last statement. As to changing banks to find a better one, more and more banks are dropping Money/Quicken services. A bit further down you will note that HSBC announced today that it was dropping the automatic downloads of Money/Quicken info. -- Peace, BobJ "Mark Horn" <mark[at]hornclan.com> wrote in message news:slrnekk6op.1fc.mark[at]home.hornclan.com... - quote - > On 2006-11-02, pcfawo[at]yahoo.com <pcfawo[at]yahoo.com> wrote: > > In other words if I > > want to track expenses during the month I will have to manually enter > > all of my credit card transactions. Even if you can, it might be time to switch credit cards. There are just too many competitors to have to put up with that. |

| The downloading of monthly statements only was always the case with MBNA CC accounts. As is often the case in a merger, the client ends up with the worst features from each of the merging banks. Looks like that is the case here. -- Peace, BobJ <pcfawo[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1162475957.413014.203770[at]h54g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... - quote - > BofA just changed their on-line interface and they're having a lot of > problems. | BofA just changed their on-line interface and they're having a lot of problems. I was told that I can no longer download credit card transactions into my Money program mid-month. In other words if I want to track expenses during the month I will have to manually enter all of my credit card transactions. The alternative is to wait until the end of my billing cycle and download 50 to 100 transactions at once and then review and assign them. There are no plans to reinstate this service. I immediately sent a comment to them complaining about the inconvenience and limitations of their new interface. If you like to track your expenses during the month I suggest you do the same. |
