| I should have started a new thread with this question, sorry. My existing direct connect settings still work with my online financial institutions. However, I am unable to setup online services for a FI from the list because of the "404 Not Found" error mentioned below. Did I miss a Money 2002 update somewhere? Is there not a way to setup new connections in Money 2002? Does it have something to do with the version of OFX/OFC that Money 2002 is using? I have an M02 cd, but I'm not willing to part with it. My original> Thomboy M02 cd died a horrible death. A viscious and ruthless 2 year old slaughtered it (and others) in a horrible rampage. Around here we refer to it as the downstairs computer masacre. Anyway, I got my replacement through ebay. I would think that getting one from me would be equally as difficult as going to ebay, so I recommend you do that. |

| Cal, if you knew how few of the functions of MS Money my wife uses, the tip on increasing the speed of the portfolio function is moot. She used M02 merely to keep track of the spending and balances of her various accounts, NEVER going online with her bank. I hate to buy a new CD for anything, because there is that ramping up time involved, and in this case, she would NOT like to learn the nuances of M07, if it is more complicated, which would lessen her use of Money. Best, and thanks, Thomboy "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Thomboy wrote: > > How can I get my hands on a Money 2002 CD installation disk? > > > My wife used M2002 to keep tabs on her spending, but during a recent move, > > and the purchase of a new laptop, the CD was lost. > > > I tried to use A M2000 Deluxe CD to open the floppy disk backups made on > > 10-17-2006 to no avail. > > > The M2007 software sounds bad, and I can't find a new copy of M2006 to > > purchase, so am I stuck with M2007 Deluxe to enable my wife to use her floppy > > backups to begin working with her past Money information? > > > Maybe I am reading more into the postings about M2007 than needed? > > > Anybody have any ideas for me? | Yes, Joseph, I agree that with any new software there is always a ramping up time, but because my wife uses so few of the functions of Money, a good CD for M02 is what I need. | Thanks, Dick for your reply. Both of your websites discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both M06 & M07, and I am more inclined now to try to find a good M02 disk on eBay than buy a copy of M07 Deluxe. | I upgraded from 2002 to 2003 a few years back and still have the disk for 2002. I would like to upgrade to the latest (2007) but I now know 2003 like the back of my hand. Maybe a few minor improvements and a few changes that someone might like or not like. It took me a couple of minutes to get things back the way I liked them. In my case I had to update because I no longer owned a copy of compatible money I could legally use. It seems that just about any new software from any source is greeted with negative views from many of the users of prior versions. Looking back over the years, there are very few things I would really want from old versions of programs. Joseph E. Meehan |

It depends on if you download transactions. I do, and I really> I bite the bullet and buy the M2007 Deluxe software? wish I'd never upgraded past Money 2002 (aka M02). M02 was the last version that didn't state anything in the license agreement about online services expiring. I've tried migrating back through QIF files, but it's not been a successful experience. So personally speaking, if I had a chance to go back to M02 without losing any of the data that I have, I'd probably do it. |

| The reason M2K wouldn't work with M02 backups is that Money files have never been backward compatible with prior versions. You may be able to eBay (or similar) an M02. I wouldn't assume M07 is any worse (or less good) than M06. See my thoughts on both at http://umpmfaq.info/Money2007.htm and http://umpmfaq.info/Money2006.htm. If your heart is set on M06, there may still be some copies out there. I saw more M06 than M07 at a MicroCenter within the last month. | How can I get my hands on a Money 2002 CD installation disk? My wife used M2002 to keep tabs on her spending, but during a recent move, and the purchase of a new laptop, the CD was lost. I tried to use A M2000 Deluxe CD to open the floppy disk backups made on 10-17-2006 to no avail. The M2007 software sounds bad, and I can't find a new copy of M2006 to purchase, so am I stuck with M2007 Deluxe to enable my wife to use her floppy backups to begin working with her past Money information? Maybe I am reading more into the postings about M2007 than needed? Anybody have any ideas for me? Should I try to find M2006 to buy, or should I bite the bullet and buy the M2007 Deluxe software? Thanks, Thomboy |
