| Certainly a known annoyance, Jake -- I encounter it rarely, but -- when I do -- it is PITA -- Michael Gordon "Jake" <Jaker00at[at]Yahoo.com> wrote in message news:Xns986DCDDE43EA7Bryanbahotmailcom[at]66.26.32.7... - quote - > I've got another gripe with MS Money 2007 .. For the most part it is more frequently only one particular FI although it has occured with others. I agree that it's probably due to a certain type of error.. But nevertheless I don't think MSM should be erasing my passwords at all. If it errors out I'm usually ok with that knowing that it's likely temporary and understand that I've probably hit an outage due to site maintenance.. I'll try again later.. at which time I'll have to remember to pay attention to the passwords or it will error out again due to a blank password - the one MSM politely erased for me.. ![]() Everything's working at the moment so I can't get the exact error text.. Yes, I occasionally experience that, too. It's annoying and I don't> encounters a failure to connect to a financial institution.. know of any fix for it. Fortunately, it doesn't happen that often. I have 6 FI's that I connect to, and I download transactions from them almost every day. I would say 5 days/week is a fair estimate. So in the last year, I've made 6 * 5 * 52 = 1560 connections. In that time, it's maybe happened 2 or 3 times for a 0.19% error rate. |

| Bryan, My experience with this is that only a certain type of update failure will produce this. If, for whatever reason, the update transaction with the FI is terminated due to the inability, right or wrong, to verify the password, one is required to re-enter on the next update. This only occurs sporadically at best in my situation and not to the extent you seem to be experiencing. This may suggest a problem with a particular FI. Are you suggesting this occurs with multiple FI's on frequent occasions? I am almost certain this is not an issue with Money (2k7 or otherwise)! Post back with more specifics and we'll see if we can make some sense of it. By the way, I completely agree with you that most users gain a reliable sense for whether an update failure is temporary, an app error, or the bank's error. | I've got another gripe with MS Money 2007 .. I've posted a few times with other complaints and some were resolved by users replies. Thanks very much.. This one may be a known issue.. My current gripe is about how MS Money handles saved passwords when it encounters a failure to connect to a financial institution.. When I attempt to update and MS Money fails to connect to one of my financial institutions it erases the saved password and unchecks the box to save passwords. The problem with this is that almost ALWAYS the failure to connect is temporary and there is nothing wrong with my password. When the bank's online services become available again, the same password works.. but now I've got to enter it again and tell Money to save it.. I'd like to see MS Money STOP doing this.. Let ME manage my passwords and if it can't connect once to let me worry about how to deal with that. .. I usually know whether or not it's temporary and I don't want Money erasing my password which I know is valid.. Anyone else encounter this? I can't recall the exact error being reported when it fails but it has something to do with either the account and/or password could be entered incorrectly... Bryan |
