The backup file should be *d1.mbf If you have Windows set to not display the extension for known types, then it is possible to look as if it is just *d1 In Windows Explorer, you can click Tools-> FolderOptions-> View and un-tick the HideExtensionsForKnownFiletypes. Alternatively use the DIR command in a command window. Another alternative is to close Money. Then double-click on the backup file in Windows Explorer. That should launch Money and get you started in the right place. - quote - > -- > HM > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, hayleym wrote: > > > > I was using money 2003 on my old laptop and have bought a new laptop with > > > money 2004. First, copy that file to a spot on your hard drive. That will give> money 2004. I am trying to import my backup from a floppy. You can select the floppy copy or the hard drive copy. I suggest that you don't take the default location to restore to. Instead Browse to the new location -- typically your MyDocuments folder. |

| I was using money 2003 on my old laptop and have bought a new laptop with money 2004. I am trying to import my backup from a floppy. The file on the floppy is called "My Money Backup d1". It won't work. Am I doing something wrong? Every time I closed money I used to back it up to floppy. I couldn't find my old money 2003 disc so I am using 2004 thiking it may be better. Please help -- HM |
