Ok. I just checked the help file. I see why you want to do this.> treat them as banking accounts with a higher rate of return than > a savings account? Obviously, I have no investments in CDs. But I do have other investment accounts, so I know how they work. Oh by the way, I use Money 2004. I don't know what version you're using, but the concepts should be similar. I can think of two ways that you can handle this. First, just create the investment account. When you get to the point in the setup wizard where it asks you if you want to add investments, say, "no". This will automatically create a cash account tied to the investment account. But here's the trick: you don't have to use it! So, say you purchase a CD for $1000. Go into the investment account and create a new investment transaction. This will be a "buy". In the investment field, enter a meaningful name (possibly "CD expires 10/23/2007" for a 12 month CD). When you do this it will ask you for the details of the investment. Choose CD. Then fill out the rest of the details. When you're done, make sure to fill out the "transfer from" field. In this field, just make the transfer from your ING banking account. The second way you could handle this is to create the new investment account, then go into the old banking account. One by one, select a transaction, right click on it, and choose "cut & paste to account", then select the cash account for the new investment account that you just created. After you've done that all of your transactions in the old account will be moved into the new account, and you should be able to delete the old account, and you can use the new investment account like normal. Personally, I like the first option better. It's cleaner. |

| Because it's my understanding from reading this group (check out the thread from 8/8/2005 titled "Set up a CD") that if I wish to track each CD with it's interest I should create a separtate investment for each one. and I want the account balance to be accurate and together, and not have to split up Savings accout, cd account, cd, account, etc. "Mark Horn" <mark[at]hornclan.com> wrote in message news:slrnejq6dk.oc5.mark[at]home.hornclan.com... - quote - > On 2006-10-23, Shhhh <123[at]456.com> wrote: > > Is it possible to change an account that I designated as a banking > > account > > into an investment account.
