| Hi Michael, I managed to manually do what I wanted. Yet it seems that another account (cash) was affected (I must have deleted grocery-expenses, that were actually split-transactions with a transfer into the cash-account). The balance had become negative. Exported from a backup the cash-account and imported it into the file in which I had replaced the "frequent costs". It has now been busy for about 4 hours with "updating" and when I look from time to time at the balance of the cash account it slowly grows again towards the balance it had. So if anyone wants to do it, here's the first don't! I thought that my file had become a bit faster, but it was not a big improvement. I gained about 2 Mb Eric "Michael Gordon" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> schreef in bericht news:e6WLSPK9GHA.2268[at]TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... - quote - > Let us know if that works for you. > -- > Michael Gordon > "Eric" <Email[at]delthistiscali.nl> wrote in message > news:453910f5$0$757$5fc3050[at]dreader2.news.tiscali.nl... > > Yes, so I found out. > > > But the suggestion by Bob Peel didn't suit me. | Yes, so I found out. But the suggestion by Bob Peel didn't suit me. I might just manually combine 6 or 7 expenses within one category and month to one expense. I would think that should help. It should at least make the file smaller. (The problem is not the filesize though, I just want to gain speed when doing reports that have several years to compare) Thanks, Eric "Michael Gordon" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> schreef in bericht news:eI20qtF9GHA.5092[at]TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... - quote - > reimporting from Excel is not an easy procedure, Eric. | reimporting from Excel is not an easy procedure, Eric. There are better ways to speed things up (and 40 mb is actually not a particularly large datafile). -- Michael Gordon "Eric" <Email[at]delthistiscali.nl> wrote in message news:4537bbe8$0$720$5fc3050[at]dreader2.news.tiscali.nl... - quote - > Hello, > I have M07 and my file right now is about 40 mb. | There is an option in M2007 to Remove all Bills data (File > Repair Money File) that some users have reported as having a miraculous effect on performance. Before you try it a) copy your .mny file and b) make sure you have a note of all your bills. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Hello, I have M07 and my file right now is about 40 mb. Overtime, I have done many entries that have a higher frequency than once a month (groceries, etc.). I was thinking of exporting the whole file to excel, subtotal those more frequent costs to monthly totals and reimport them again, as I think that monthly subtotals are just fine to compare to earlier years and months. Anyone ever tried this? Would this actually make the file smaller (I assume it will) and faster? Would there be an easier way than I described? Thanks, Eric |
