| Thanks Michael for the reply. This is exactly what I was figured was happening. I was really exceited when it looked like Money provided integration with more Brokers than Quicken, and I was ready to dive head-long into it. I really like its smooth and elegant interface. But with the reality that the back-end integration doesn't really work with a large percentage of my brokers, it doesn't do me a whole lot of good. Hopefully it will get better. | The only way Money can get data from Baird is by scraping (via a third party provider) -- Baird isn't involved at all. My experience is that the process doesn't work at all and I gave up -- except for nagging Baird to either support Money or allow manual downloads of Quicken files (which Money can handle). -- Michael Gordon "Karl Kvool" <KarlKvool[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B32942CF-EBB9-4CC3-99A6-364C8DA2BC50[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Well clearly Money 2007 is doing something behind the scenes to pull data > from Scudder and Baird, because it is giving me the correct funds and > balances, just not matching them to my existing funds. | Well clearly Money 2007 is doing something behind the scenes to pull data from Scudder and Baird, because it is giving me the correct funds and balances, just not matching them to my existing funds. So given what we have uncovered so far, is there anything I can do to get it to work? | Cal, I have been trying for an hour to capture the OFX data for this downloaded statement. I followed the instructions in Microsoft Support to create the registry entry to enable OFX logging, and I am not getting any log files created for Scudder or Baird. I do get log files for Fidelity, so I know I configured the logging properly. Maybe there is a non-OFX based transmission in use for Scudder and Baird, and maybe that's part of the reason why I can't get them to work properly. There is another possibility: they may be called funds in the OFX and in your file, but have a fake CUSIP from Scudder. [I have re-thought what I wrote, and this hypothesis now seems unlikely. I will still throw it out as a possibility, since I may have not considered all of the implications properly] Fidelity Net Benefits is notorious for that, and there is a way to handle it in Money 2007. Perhaps Scudder is doing that too. Or perhaps Scudder is doing it right and you had used Fidelity Net Benefits to hold that same fund at some point. So consider posting the first part of OFX section for one, such as KDHAX that includes the <UNIQUEID> for that. A proper CUSIP has 9 characters and would be 23338F804 for KDHAX. If you don't have newline characters in your OFX, you might replace all "<" with "newline<" using a text editor. That makes it easier to read. | Cal, I just discovered I have the same issue with another broker and another fund, so I see a pattern developing here that night indicate the problem isn't on the broker end. I have four funds from DWS-Scudder and all of them have this issue. KDHAX and MIDVX are two examples. The other broker account with this problem is with Baird, and the fund is SWHCX. To do that, you could import the OFX file into a new file , import into a copy of your existing file. Then create the new investment, and see what type of investment is created. Alternatively, examine the OFX file. See if the security is listed in a <MFINFO> section, or if it is in a <STOCKINFO> section. If you don't have your hands on the OFX file, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911941/en-us would tell how you could get it. Assuming you do want to change the existing "fund" into a "stock", you could change the transactions now entered for the "fund" into ones that are also appropriate for a stock. Then you should be able to change the type readily. If there are a lot of capital gains transactions, then this will not be good in that those are not really appropriate for a stock. To get to the transactions to make the change, you can right-click the investment in the Portfolio view, and choose SeeInvestmentActivities. As to whether you could get Scudder to change the designation, I would doubt that. Would you care to name the security? - quote - > "Marilyn & Bob" wrote: > > This can happen if your broker (Scudder) has the investment listed in the > > OFX file as a type different from the way you have set it up. | Yes, it is listing only the handful of stocks in my portfolio to choose from. At one point I thought maybe this had something to do with it, so I tried to change my funds to stocks but Money wouldn't let me do that because of the transaction types that were in place. So it sounds like my only recourse at this point is to contact Scudder and let them know their OFX data is incorrect. | This can happen if your broker (Scudder) has the investment listed in the OFX file as a type different from the way you have set it up. For example, it designates your investment as a Stock when you have it set up as a Mutual Fund (no matter that the way you have it set up is correct, if they have it set up differently, you are SOL). When you look at the drop down list is the type of investments shown different from the type of your investment? -- Peace, BobJ "kvoolk" <kvoolk[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:25427308-AD92-4E78-85F5-0B2ACE96D631[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Hello, > I recently installed Money 2007 Deluxe. | Hello, I recently installed Money 2007 Deluxe. When I update my statement from my DWS-Scudder account (it doesn't happen with my other account), I get prompted with the investment verification step to either add the new security or match it with an existing security. The bizzare thing is, the name and symbol it displays is already in the portfolio with the exact same name and symbol, but it doesn't show it in the matchlist drop-down. And if I choose the second option, which is to add the security, it tells me I can't add it because the same name and symbol already exist in my portfolio! I have been going through this exercise in futility for two days trying to find a way out. I even tried adding it under a different name with no symbol, and then combining it later with the actual security I hold, but when I do that, strangely it doesn't list the security that I need to combine it with! This is seriously like a cruel joke. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? I did convert the file from Quicken recently, because I got tired of endless futility of trying to get my portfolio correct in that program. Now I am stuck spinning my wheels again. Any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
