After further testing I find that I was *wrong* about the bug not being present in Money 2007. I had missed the AddShares because it was added quietly, and I failed to look sufficiently. I had originally tested with a copy of a real file, and the transactions were interspersed with existing transactions. Regarding my ability to advocate for bug fixes, I am ineffective. So I look for workarounds. Here is a complete OFX test file based on your posting that can be imported into a test Money file. It's purpose is to demonstrate the bug of not being able to buy shares and then re-sell those shares later in the day. **********begin HugeDFM.OFX***************************** OFXHEADER:100 DATA:OFXSGML VERSION:102 SECURITY:NONE ENCODING:USASCII CHARSET:1252 COMPRESSION:NONE OLDFILEUID:NONE NEWFILEUID:7SFDF6AB-2FE7-3455-335A-D890ASDF9F8C <OFX<SIGNONMSGSRSV1<SONRS<STATUS<CODE> 0 <SEVERITY> INFO </STATUS<DTSERVER> 20060920230002.000[-5:EST] <LANGUAGE> ENG <DTPROFUP> 19970829160000.000[-5:EST] <DTACCTUP> 20030920230002.000[-5:EST] </SONRS</SIGNONMSGSRSV1<INVSTMTMSGSRSV1<INVSTMTTRNRS<TRNUID > DS833SCF-1DA5-4SG9-H345-5AD3S3E55WF0 <STATUS<CODE> 0 <SEVERITY> INFO </STATUS<INVSTMTRS<DTASOF> 20060920 <CURDEF> USD <INVACCTFROM<BROKERID> TestBroker.com <ACCTID> 54321000 </INVACCTFROM<INVTRANLIST<DTSTART> 20041130202000.000[-5:EST]</DTSTART<DTEND> 20041231202000.000[-5:EST]</DTEND<BUYSTOCK<INVBUY<INVTRAN<FITID> 20041201.U181836.e.USD.47906475</FITID<DTTRADE> 20041201143417.000[-5:EST]</DTTRADE</INVTRAN<SECID<UNIQUEID> 123456789</UNIQUEID<UNIQUEIDTYPE> CUSIP</UNIQUEIDTYPE</SECID<UNITS> 100</UNITS<UNITPRICE> 28.39</UNITPRICE<COMMISSION> 1</COMMISSION<TOTAL> -2840</TOTAL<CURRENCY<CURRATE> 1.0</CURRATE<CURSYM> USD</CURSYM</CURRENCY<SUBACCTSEC> CASH</SUBACCTSEC<SUBACCTFUND> CASH</SUBACCTFUND</INVBUY<BUYTYPE> BUY</BUYTYPE</BUYSTOCK<SELLSTOCK<INVSELL<INVTRAN<FITID> 20041201.U181836.e.USD.47909762</FITID<DTTRADE> 20041201145752.000[-5:EST]</DTTRADE</INVTRAN<SECID<UNIQUEID> 123456789</UNIQUEID<UNIQUEIDTYPE> CUSIP</UNIQUEIDTYPE</SECID<UNITS> -100</UNITS<UNITPRICE> 28.17</UNITPRICE<COMMISSION> 1</COMMISSION<TOTAL> 2816</TOTAL<CURRENCY<CURRATE> 1.0</CURRATE<CURSYM> USD</CURSYM</CURRENCY<SUBACCTSEC> CASH</SUBACCTSEC<SUBACCTFUND> CASH</SUBACCTFUND</INVSELL<SELLTYPE> SELL</SELLTYPE</SELLSTOCK </INVTRANLIST<INVPOSLIST<POSSTOCK<INVPOS<SECID<UNIQU EID> 123456789 <UNIQUEIDTYPE> CUSIP </SECID<HELDINACCT> CASH <POSTYPE> LONG <UNITS> 0.00 <UNITPRICE> 10.000 <MKTVAL> 0.000 <DTPRICEASOF> 20060919000000.000[-5:EST] </INVPOS</POSSTOCK </INVPOSLIST<INVBAL<AVAILCASH> 5013.95 <MARGINBALANCE> 0.00 <SHORTBALANCE> 0.00 </INVBAL</INVSTMTRS</INVSTMTTRNRS </INVSTMTMSGSRSV1<SECLISTMSGSRSV1<SECLIST<STOCKINFO< SECINFO<SECID<UNIQUEID> 123456789 <UNIQUEIDTYPE> CUSIP </SECID<SECNAME> TestDayTrade hugedfm.ofx <TICKER> TDT1 </SECINFO</STOCKINFO </SECLIST</SECLISTMSGSRSV1</OFX **********end HugeDFM.OFX***************************** |

| Cal, Could there be a "configuration" difference between your '07 and mine? I initially installed over the '06 version then removed & reinstalled the '07 version. Could there be some legacy registry setting that is affecting my results/operation? Is there a list of registry settings available from MS? Also, what other setup/configuration settings affect the sequence that items are imported into Money from an OFX file? Do you have access to the specific information and/or sequence of events as to how the import operates? Do you as an MVP have access to folks ar Redmond? Thanks, -- dfmccarty "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, dfmccarty wrote: > > Cal, > > I purchased Money 2007 (was probably going to do that any way) installed it > > over '06 and imported the OFX and it was wrong again. | Cal, Another note about your work around. I'm a Day Trader with MANY transactions in one day so just changing the "sell" date and changing it back would be a GREAT DEAL of trouble for 20 transactions and I'm not convinced that workaround would fix the problem. I'm assuming here that you were suggesting I "fix" the dates using Money and not some OFX editor. I can't see that an OFX editor would be of any value since the OFX file seems to be OK since all of the transactions are in the correct "sequence" based on Date & time. Also, I noted that after the import when you click the NEXT button the "update 'broker' Incestment: New Transaction from Satatement" process that actually moves the import records to the account register processed the entries in a very strange order (seems like alpha stocks then futures?). I'm not sure about that and would like to know more about the process/sequence/sort. Thanks Again, -- dfmccarty "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, dfmccarty wrote: > > Cal, > > Any idea what was changed between '06 & '07 to "correct" the problem? > I would assume a bug fix. |

| Cal, I purchased Money 2007 (was probably going to do that any way) installed it over '06 and imported the OFX and it was wrong again. So . . . I uninstalled '07 reinstalled '07 created ONLY an investment account and tried the import again with the same results. So, if you would like to have the single account MNY file and the OFX (with my account number stripped out) I'l lbe glad to post them OR e-mail them to you. You can reach me at dfmccarty at alltel dot net. I could really use your help on this issue. You could work around the problem in the earlier version by temporarily changing the date of the Sell to a later date, Deleting the fake AddShares, and then changing the date back. | I'm importing ".ofx" files from my broker. I've examined the files, using Excell, and all is well with the file. HOWEVER, Money DOES NOT imports the transactions in the correct order. For example; here is the OFX code for the 1st 2 transactions a buy then a sell . . . BUT Money imports them in reverse order, the transaction register displays them in reverse order, and Money inserts an "Add Shares" entry to "balance" the first "sell".
