Default RE: Spending tracker and PPC support

Jeff,
Did an experment today and found out that if I created a new advanced budget
with fake accounts, the spending tracker seemed to work without any problems.
That means there seems to be problems when 2007 converts from older versions.
The tech support will either convince you to go to a savings and spending
budget or tell you that your database is corrupt. That's a bunch of garbage.
All I can say is that I have to intention of trying to reenter all that info.
I just convert to Quicken since I've been using along with money for the past
two years.

I had that problem with 2003 and 2004. It worked for some accounts but it
didn't work for others. I wouldn't hold my breath on MS fixing it at least
for now.

For what it's worth, I posted in another thread something similar. I
have a credit card and a checking account that I track in my budget. The
CC is paid off each month. My spending trackers show transactions from
both accounts.... unless I put the CC into my debt plan. Then the
transactions disappear. I am running Deluxe 07.

As soon as I remove the CC from the planner, the transactions show up
again in the tracker.

So if one of your accounts is in the debt planner, try taking it out and
seeing if the trans show up.

As you said, you'd think this would be something relatively simple to
fix... hopefully they won't wait until '08 to do so.

Default RE: Spending tracker and PPC support

That was my feeling as well when I spoke to tech support. They didn't seem to
have any answers for me except that my money file was corrupt. Ten yrs of
data and several upgrades and now they tell me that my data files are
corrupt. What will they say next? At least I've been using Quicken for the
past two years and it's working very well for me. They might be a signal for
me to look elsewhere after using Money for 10 yrs.

Hope you can figure out - I sure can't. I really have no interest in using
the Savings and Spending Budget.
Thanks.

Jeff,
I agree with you. They really messed up the spending tracker function. I
recently upgraded from 2004 and it worked great in that version. Now--I get
get it to track my current expenses worth beans. I recently learned that you
can't really use the Advanced Budget features and expect the spending tracker
to work. You have to use the Savings and Spending Budget setting to get it to
work. That means you have to reenter your gross income info, etc. It seems if
you the money files from an older version, the new version wouldn't be able
to convert everything (like your old month budget info). The tech support
guy kept saying that my money file was corrupt but the file repair feature in
2007 was telling me that it was ok. I'm going to tackle it this evening. I
hope to have more info later.

Default Spending tracker and PPC support

Very, very frustrated with Money 2007. First of all, MS eliminated PPC
sync'ing and use. Cannot in my wildest dreams figure out why they wanted to
make Mobile 5 platform LESS useful.
More importantly MS has completely screwed up the spending tracker function.
I thought at first when I worked with Tech Support that I had done something
wrong (frankly, that's how Tech Support made me feel). Now going through
these threads, I can see that there is a common problem. 2007's Spending
Tracker is only picking up one account to track spending. One of the more
useful snapshots of my short term financial position is now gone.
Will probably have to revisit the competition when next year's models come
out. Come on MS, you can do better than this!
