| Thanks Cal: I installed the IEAK for IE 5 which they say doesn't work with IE 6 but does. Anyway the IEAK adds to the Tools menu: "Add to Trusted zone" and "Add to Restricted zone" so I can easily add sites that I know are safe to the Trusted zone (Medium security) without having to type each one in. Neeless to say my "Trusted" list is quite extensive. I'll post back in a few days with the results of these latest additions supplied by Mark. Like I said earlier, I've NOT received the notice to update the software again so far today. My IE6 Tools-> InternetOptions-> Security Trusted Sites list currently includes these: *.fdl.msn.com login.passport.net [redundant with later one] *.microsoft.com *.moneycentral.msn.com g.msn.com *.passport.com *.passport.net I uncheck the "Require server verification" box. I did not have money:// and I will be considering that one. I have not reviewed my list for a while, and I would like to use your observations to help bring it up to date. I did not list *.msn.com after doing a search for things I would not expect to find on a tight site. | You may simply be able to add Money to the "Trusted Sites" list. Specifically I would add: moneycentral.msn.com (since this is where the investment/quote data comes from) fld.microsoft.com (microsoft's file download server, where updates come from) money:// (this is the Money user interface protocols) See if that helps. -Mark "Kevin" <nospam[at]nospam.com> wrote in message news:uRH94Kz5GHA.508[at]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... - quote - > Thanks JB > I don't want to keep my security levels lowered. > What I've come up with is a small batch file that opens Money > and also opens Internet Explorer's options so I can be reminded > to lower my security levels only while I'm using Money and raise > them again when I'm done. > If anyone's interested, the batch file is: > "X:\My Documents\IE Options.lnk" > "X:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\MNYCoreFiles\msmoney.exe" > X is obviously your particular drive letter. > Save it in Notepad with a .bat extention. > Options.lnk is created by right clicking Internet Options in the Control > Panel > and choosing Create Shortcut. > It will offer to place it on your Desktop where you can drag it to > wherever > you want. | Thanks JB I don't want to keep my security levels lowered. What I've come up with is a small batch file that opens Money and also opens Internet Explorer's options so I can be reminded to lower my security levels only while I'm using Money and raise them again when I'm done. If anyone's interested, the batch file is: "X:\My Documents\IE Options.lnk" "X:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\MNYCoreFiles\msmoney.exe" X is obviously your particular drive letter. Save it in Notepad with a .bat extention. Options.lnk is created by right clicking Internet Options in the Control Panel and choosing Create Shortcut. It will offer to place it on your Desktop where you can drag it to wherever you want. In my case My Documents. At least this way I'll remember to set my security levels before and after I use Money. To me, it doesn't make sense that one should have to lower their security levels to run a financial program. | Kevin, In Program Files/Microsoft Money 2007/readme.htm Item 7 says to set the Internet zone to Medium. Not sure if this will solve your problem, but that along with a review of their other suggestions may help. Good Luck! | Dear NG: Every day when I open my Money file, I receive a notice that states: "To continue operating successfully, Money requires a software update. Click OK to close Money and begin the update now." I close Money, click OK. Another notice opens that states: "Money is now ready to download the new files. To begin the installation, click OK. Another notice Please wait while Money update installs the new files... (Paraphrased since the notice closed before I could copy down exactly what it said) You can see file names flashing by within the notice window. Finally, "The download was successful. Click OK to complete the software update and then restart Money." Fortunately these updates complete successfully and other than the annoyance of going through this every day, all seems to work ok. Since Money is so tightly integrated with Internet Explorer, could the fact that I keep my "Internet" zone security level set to High, and my "Trusted" zone set to Medium have something to do with Money not recognizing that it has already installed these updates? Anybody else experiencing this issue? Thanks for any advice. -Kevin |
