Yes, Money 2004 will not let you have two securities with the same> After the $3 msft divident all option exercise prices were lowered by $3. > This gave the option a new name and Money got confused the two names with the > same ticker symbol. symbol. If you set up an equity or index option in Money 2004, Money did not let you change the symbol. So if some LEAPS changed to a mainstream symbol, you could not adjust. Plus there is the reuse problem too. The workaround in Money 2004 would be to enter 2 100-share contracts as 200 shares of a stock with symbol .XYZAA or whatever. You could change or blank the symbol in that case. Expiration would be entered as a sell for $0, and an exercise is more complicated. Money 2007 does allow you to change or blank the symbol on an equity or index option. - quote - > "Oskar" wrote: > > Additional info: > > It looks like when updated Money it lost the list of "investments already > > in my portfolio", so when I try to enter one that is already in the > > portfolio, the actual investment is in the portfolio, but the drop down list > > does not contain the investment. | Oh, this is great. I have figured it out. After the $3 msft divident all option exercise prices were lowered by $3. This gave the option a new name and Money got confused the two names with the same ticker symbol. | Additional info: It looks like when updated Money it lost the list of "investments already in my portfolio", so when I try to enter one that is already in the portfolio, the actual investment is in the portfolio, but the drop down list does not contain the investment. So I can't pick from existing investments, but I can also not enter it as a new investment??? | I am downloading transactions from my broker and am getting a long list of investment to verify before they are entered into my portfolio. For each entry I have to select if the investment is one that I already have in my portfolio or if it is a new investment, and if so, add its name. When I get to VMFAR (Call Microsoft Corp$24.50 Adj Exp 01/20/07), the "select from already existing investments" is grayed out, but if I select "Add this as a new investment" and name it "Call Microsoft Corp$24.50 Adj Exp 01/20/07", it tells me I can't do this since that investment already exists. It even has the nerve to suggest I made a mistake and should have selected the grayed out option???????????????? Anybody???????????? |
