If I were entering the transaction by hand, I would opt for more than one fund in an account. That's how Vanguard does it now. |

However, there are reasons other than what you have experienced for the OP's problem, as has been reported on the NG frequently in the past. It has frequently been the case that those having the problem have not set up their accounts correctly. It has rarely been the case that it is a problem with their institution. --ron |

| Sorry Rod, it doesn't work that way. I manually set up a single account for my two Ariel funds and then I tried to set up on line services and do the download. What happens is that two separate accounts download, each with one fund in it. I can merge one of the downloaded accounts with the manually set up account, but Money will not let me merge the second account. I'm sure the original poster has the same problem. If the financial institution does not have it set up right, there is nothing you can do about it. -- Peace, BobJ "Ron Rosenfeld" <ronrosenfeld[at]nospam.org> wrote in message news:5m02i2dqf3ret31trmrcjn3p7gbmig2d26[at]4ax.com... - quote - > On Sun, 1 Oct 2006 18:50:01 -0700, KenTiffJelt > <KenTiffJelt[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > I have several differents funds held at the same investing institution. > > When > > I try to set-up online services for one of these accounts Money only > > allows > > me to set-up one fund at a time. I don't have 2006, but the sequence would something like Add a new account Enter the data with regard to your "investing institution" After that, depending on the institution, you might be able to just set up online services for the institution, and it might download all of the funds as different investments. (That's what happens with Fidelity if I set this up in a new money file -- which I've done for testing now and then). If not, each fund should be added as a new investment in this new account. --ron |

| There is nothing you can do about this. The problem is at the fund's end. I have that problem with one of the funds (Ariel Funds) that I use. They simply have set up their downloading system incorrectly. And since they use a consultant to set up their downloading system, there is no one in their office who I can talk to about this. They are being ripped off paying for a useless service and us users get no benefit. I have to manually enter all of my transactions. If you are dealing with a larger fund company who has its own technical service, maybe you can get them to fix the problem. Otherwise, just forget about it and enter all your info manually. -- Peace, BobJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:vnt0i2tqimlvhfuuo1r5iagejfgvbmgonc[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, KenTiffJelt wrote: > > I have several differents funds held at the same investing institution. > > When > > I try to set-up online services for one of these accounts Money only > > allows > > me to set-up one fund at a time. | I have several differents funds held at the same investing institution. When I try to set-up online services for one of these accounts Money only allows me to set-up one fund at a time. I need to set-up all of the funds at the same time but I can't figure it out. If I set up one fund from an account online updates occur, but only for that fund not the entire portfolio. Any suggestions? |
