Default Re: Actual difference between 2006 and 2007

Read my recent post/rant. I tried most of the below. The 007 response seems
better than 006 without playing with the bills, but as I indicated, the
experiment failed.

Does anybody know if ABC records these email/IM's? I better watch what I say
about MS.

Money 2007 includes a feature that has fixed some cases of slow
operation. File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData

This Remove All Bills Data feature would be for people who have
experienced their Money file to run excessively slow.

To get some information within the program,
File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData
Read the information. Then click cancel.

Before proceeding, make an extra copy or backup of your file
in case you want to undo something.

The problem will be that if you remove all bills, you will probably
want to add at least some of your bills back. This can be done
manually
with the aid of the reports that you print out before removing the
bills.

A technique that could help simplify re-entering your bills
afterward would be to go your register and selecting a
representative instance of your past bill and selecting "Make
Recurring" (Ctrl+E). This would be especially helpful if the bill is
complex, such as involving a split.

I suggest that you download the free 90 day trial and use both in
parallel. Copy your current Money file to a different name, such
as Money07.mny, and let Money 2007 convert that copy. Stay alert
during install to make sure the trial does not uninstall your Money
version. Expect a radio button where you will need to change from
the default. You should be able to run both versions, one at a
time.

Or you could just delete the bills on a copy of the file as a test
of concept.

If you decide to stay with the older version of Money, after trying
2007, I suggest you do not uninstall the trial unless you are
prepared to reinstall the older version. That file association
thing is the thing that routes a QIF or OFX to the given version of
Money when you click on such a file.

If you do decide to reinstall Money 2005 from CD, open the
Sample.mny included in the install folder to let updates occur
before you open your real file.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;889930 tells
how to reinstall if you purchased Money 2005 online.

Money 2007 has some other features, but the RemoveAllBillsData is
the one most likely to address your performance issue.

Default Actual difference between 2006 and 2007

Is 2007 truly any better than 2006, assuming you are 'happy' with the
features in 2006?

My database is about 100MB large and has a very large number > 63K of
transactions in 100 or so accounts. Mny2006 works ok, but more often or not
it spaces out on a task or aborts completely. I'm convinced there is no
'corruption' problem, per se; the database engine and front end just sucks
and I'm hoping something has improved in 007.
