| There aren't any good books, Julian, so this is the best place to come for help. You're right: check the box for "automatically enter". Money is pretty good on matching payees, using the Payee Rules Manager. Easiest thing is for you to go through a cycle of downloading/matching and then to tweak it then. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Talyrond" <Talyrond[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:59B67A49-AF1E-4D01-A1D7-53086F06B10F[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Hi, thanks for the reply > A couple of questions, you said 'you can set it up so Money adds the > transaction before it actually occurs and is downloaded', do I check the > box > 'Automatically enter transaction into my register the following number of > days before payment date' on the create a recurring bull page? > What is the criteria for a match on a downloaded transaction, I can only > imagine that the Payee field should have match, but I notice on some of my > transaction for the same bill has different payee text. | Hi, thanks for the reply A couple of questions, you said ‘you can set it up so Money adds the transaction before it actually occurs and is downloaded’, do I check the box ‘Automatically enter transaction into my register the following number of days before payment date’ on the create a recurring bull page? What is the criteria for a match on a downloaded transaction, I can only imagine that the Payee field should have match, but I notice on some of my transaction for the same bill has different payee text. I what to be able to test and see this happening, but have had no luck so far. If I do not understand how something works, I get frustrated and tend to loose interest. I have no doubt that Money is an excellent product but the word ‘Black Box’ seems very appropriate! There are so many aspects that I have may questions about, there is just no info about at the level I want, could you recommend any good books? Thanks Julian |

| You can select whether transactions are added automatically (by the program) or manually (by you). In the case you describe, you can set it up so Money adds the transaction before it actually occurs and is downloaded. Then Money should match the downloaded transaction to the one it automatically added. There are other options, so let us know if this isn't what you want. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Talyrond" <Talyrond[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B695470A-4E4C-494C-88A7-99D17390014C[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I am new to Money and am very frustrated at the moment! > I am trying to get my head around recurring bills, here's my situation: > I have created my current account and populated with data automatically on > line. > If I make one of the transaction recurring, what is going to happen in the > future, the recurring bill will be added to the register and also the > transaction automatically by the on line update, because it is paid by > direct > debit every month > I just do not get it, will money recognise the automatic transaction? > I have been unable to find any satisfactory answers anywhere > Any help appreciated > Julian > Any help appreciated > Julian |

| I am new to Money and am very frustrated at the moment! I am trying to get my head around recurring bills, here’s my situation: I have created my current account and populated with data automatically on line. If I make one of the transaction recurring, what is going to happen in the future, the recurring bill will be added to the register and also the transaction automatically by the on line update, because it is paid by direct debit every month I just do not get it, will money recognise the automatic transaction? I have been unable to find any satisfactory answers anywhere Any help appreciated Julian Any help appreciated Julian |
