| Scott: Try opening the sample.mny file in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007 and see if it updates. If it updates successfully then open YOUR .mny file. -Kevin "Scott Friedman" <scott[at]freedyhome.com> wrote in message news:OfwtF1M3GHA.2280[at]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... - quote - > MS Money 2007.. when I open it now, it says there is a required software > update.. it downloads, and then crashes when installing.... > ANy hope? Perhaps there's something else on the OP's machine causing it to crash. Or some other interaction between his file and IE7. Or some other program. There's a particular (non-Microsoft) program I have which, if running while Money is running, will reliably cause Money to crash under certain specific circumstances. M2003 worked fine with this program. --ron |

| I've been running IE7/M04 and then M07 for months. The only strange thing I've seen that hasn't been reported by others as a Money issue is some serious Portfolio Manager strangeness that came and then went. But I also saw this at the same time with the same files on my notebook with IE6. The problem may be due to the interaction with IE7. Given the Money team's reluctance to work on existing bugs in the program, I doubt they will do much since IE7 RC1 is really still a beta version. There may be someone in the group who is successfully using IE7 and Money. But if no one comes up with a better idea, I would recommend checking to see if you still have the problem with IE6. There are directions for uninstalling IE7 and returning to IE6 in the Release Notes for IE7 RC1. If it is a compatibility issue with IE7, I would recommend you report it to the IE7 development team. --ron |
