Yes, I know. I was the one that previously reported that work around on this> period desired. > -Mark NG. That does not change the fact that the Net Worth report itself is broken and, unless the user is aware of the problem, will give erroneous results. --ron |

| You can use the Net Worth Over Time report to customize it to the date period desired. -Mark "Ron Rosenfeld" <ronrosenfeld[at]nospam.org> wrote in message news:fmmlg2l87rpok1t458b7mo6j3ier79g0ip[at]4ax.com... - quote - > On Fri, 15 Sep 2006 10:32:44 -0600, "Dick Watson" > <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote: > > I guess I'm thinking of more breakages than fixes... > > > "Ron Rosenfeld" <ronrosenfeld[at]nospam.org> wrote in message > > news:igklg2pka040ngeatdrigpfsfe64p9im8k[at]4ax.com... > > > 3. The alternative would have been to do something in Excel. But that would have taken me longer to set up than did the debugging required to get M2007 working properly on my system. Other big companies can issue upgrades that are really upgrades, and don't require an IT specialist to debug. I won't hold my breath, though, for MickeySoft to get into that category. --ron |

They are more same than different, but there are some new features> of the dirty little secrets of 2003. Is 2007 anything like 2003?? > I will appreciate your comments. you may find useful. There is a backup system that can keep more than one version of backups. The default is 4, but you can increase that. There are more columns available for use in the Portfolio views. There is a spinoff method. You can do other things in Money while fetching quotes or transactions. You can have both 2003 and 2007 on your computer at the same time, installed into different folders. You can have them open, one at a time. If you want to do that, be careful to not have Money 2007 uninstall earlier versions. I think that might be the default, so be alert. The only caveats I can think of are the last-installed is set up with the file associations, so when you download an OFX or QIF, the last installed gets fed the file. To feed the file to both, save the file to disk, and do File-> Import to both. Just clicking a link sends the file to the last-installed. You could manually adjust the associations, or could reinstall 2003 to reset the associations. If you decide to try both in parallel, I would copy my *.mny file to Jill07.mny, and let Money 2007 convert that copy. That way you will have the Money 2003 file where Money 2003 expects to find it. |

I did that upgrade.> of the dirty little secrets of 2003. Is 2007 anything like 2003?? > I will appreciate your comments. The only reason I chose to do it was because of the loss of online services in my version of M2003. I have a large number of stocks in my portfolio and being able to download the quotes is valuable to me. (I do not know if downloading of financial institutions would have become disabled also). Of the features I use: 1. The Net Worth report is no longer accurate. Instead of giving the balance of all accounts as of the "date" set, for any cash accounts (checking, savings, cash portion of investment accounts), it will give the final balance -- which may be in the future. 2. The portfolio appreciation reports (by account and by type) have been returned to the way they were prior to M2000. Prior to M2000, the report would only show positions that were held, or had activity, during the time frame of the report. Beginning in 2000, the report would show ALL positions ever held (resulting in a large number of entries with zero's, for me). 3. There've been some minor bug fixes in the Scheduled Bills department. 4. There are some conflicts with other programs which may cause M2007 to crash, although M2003 worked fine. One of those programs is Virtual Account Number -- a Citibank program which allows for the generation of random Mastercard account numbers for Internet purchases. If it is running, M2007 will crash under certain circumstances. 5. There are more links to advertisements, which cannot be disabled, when you select certain "pages". 6. The DB salvage routine associated with the option that allows you to delete all scheduled transactions, seems to be more robust. Those are the issues that affect me. It is not a comprehensive list. You can download a test program to try it out. You can search this NG for applicable threads. --ron |
