| Just fixed a monthly report problem. Maybe the troubleshooting method I used might help others so here it is. I got an error message, "Money encountered a problem and must close" when trying to run a monthly report. Tried the built-in and standard file repair methods: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182608/ Neither worked. Then I isolated the problem as follows: Make a test copy of your data file to work on. Went down the list of monthly reports one at a time until one worked - Sept 2005 was the first one that worked. So I knew the file became corrupt in Oct 2005. But what account was involved? Went down my open accounts one at a time and closed each one and then tested Oct 2005 report. After about 10 accounts, the report for Oct 2005 finally worked. So now I knew the account where the problem was located. I looked at the Oct 2005 transactions but saw no problems. I deleted all the 10/2005 transactions in that account and recreated them one by one but that did not help. I noted that one of the 10/2005 deposit transactions in the offending account was entered via Bills and Deposits. I went to Bills and Deposits and deleted that recurring deposit. Then the 10/2005 monthly report worked! Problem solved. Deleting Bills or Deposits is not advisable so I deleted the test file and created a new test file. Then I used "This series will end at some point in time" in the Edit dialog to remove the offending deposit from the list by setting the last payment date as the final payment. I then created a new recurring deposit to carry on starting next month. Now the monthly reports work perfectly and all is well. Regards Bill Wood |
