With exception of some very small cash amounts, so do I. My data file, after
M07 nuke-the-bills, is still only 55 or so MB.

Thanks Dick. I do write every transaction I make, so I have a huge
amount of data.

I think you hit on it. When Money updates stock prices, they probably
enter it somewhere as a transaction, where nothing actually shows up in
the accounts..

Pick a customized date range narrowed down to what you really want?

I don't know why it's doing this, but perhaps there are some investment
transactions at old dates that do not get archived? I don't archive, so have
never tried to see this/not see it.

You must have a LOT more transactions per day than I do. I've been at this
with Money since 1993. I only have 30k or so transactions.

I have 10 years of data in my file, including 1000's and 1000's of
daily transactions. If I keep more than two years of data in a file,
it takes forever to do anything and becomes completely unwieldy. So,
each year I create a new archive file with the last two years data.

Now, if I were to start a new file, could I easily import all the
account information into the new one, or would I have to do it all from
scratch again?

Thanks

Rich

The simple answer is to start a new file in Money. I wonder what in the
world you are trying to do by archiving. The archiving process in Money
doesn't do what you really think it should do. It just screws up your
data. You should keep ALL your data in ONE file and run REPORTS set up
the way you want. Read about how Money works before you start messing
with the data. Good luck. Steve

Default Archive Problem in Money 2006

Hi,

I archived dates from my Money 2006 program, creating a new archived
file in the process. In the original file, the transactions are
removed, but when I do a Monthly Cash Flow Report and enter All Dates,
it shows all the months I archived. They are all empty, so I have a
page of two years of empty dates. Older versions didn't use to do
this. Somehow the program thinks that the dates still have something
in them. How do I get rid of all this empty space.

Thanks
