Here's an example of how a bank makes sure that there aren't any new
adopters of the OFX direct connect downloads. Next step is charging
pre-existing customers. Next step is pulling the plug...

HSBC started charging to be able to use direct connect with either
Money or Quicken starting June 1 2006. It $9.99 So if you want to use
direct connect you need to get a form faxed and fax it back to them or
visit a branch. If you signed up before then you can continue to use it
for free tho. The new fee apply only to new sign ups.

I am having the exact same problem. Ms money 2007 is telling me HSBC requires
you to sign up for a special online account from HSBC to use with MS Money
but there are no other account except for the HSBC Internet Banking account
that I already have. I can logon to their website fine but doesn't work w/
MS Money 2007. So what can I do?

I am setup for Internet banking. I can login fine to the web site and
review account information. But when I am setting up Money it tells me I
need to request direct services with HSBC. I have called HSBC Internet
Banking support a few times today and they tell me I just use the same login
information I use to access the web site. If I use this information Money
will add 3 news account but will not download any details. When I go to
Internet services I see a error message that says Microsoft Money could not
update your account. Please try to update your account again. If the
program continues contact support." All my non HSBC accounts update fine.

Cheers
Ryan

According to
http://www.us.hsbc.com/1/PA_1_1_39/c...ng%20guide.pdf
you would want to sign up for online services.
