The PCworld article says it does.

It does seem inconsistent at a functional level, but not at a "monetizing
the relationship" level.

I'd say that it does not fall into the same marketing niche. Essentials is
apparently seriously stripped down even more. Your niche seems to have been
abandoned.

A fairly good review, for a change apparently by someone who actually uses
this stuff.

I highlighted the sentence "[Essentials is] so lacking in features that some
newcomers may wonder what the fuss over desktop software is all about." I've
wondered the same thing and many Essential question posters (take this
thread) who have made it here have wondered the same thing as well.

Based on how Money chases Q and the review "winner" slot, I'd say electronic
attachments are in Money's future...

PC World's review (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,126612/article.html)
confirms that there is no memo field in the Essentials version of Money.

Of course, that doesn't answer whether the Free After Rebate deal with
TaxCut will apply to MEss or Deluxe which I think is where Bob was going
with that train of thought. MEss seems unlikely since they aren't,
apparently, selling MEss at retail in a box. Of course, they could bundle a
download coupon for MEss. Time will tell.

The "free after rebate" with TaxCut has been going on so long that I think
(no inside knowledge) that it's safe to assume it will reappear this year.

Except that I only once paid for Money ($10 special from Egghead bricks and
mortar Computer store–remember that?–for Money 98) . Money 95 came free
from Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) and all subsequent versions have
come with "free after rebate" with TaxCut. I don't know what the deal will
be this year, but I know I don't want a free Essentials. Still you are
right that in the end, it won't break the bank.

break the bank.

Money Standard is gone for 2007, but Essentials in *not* a successor to
Money Standard even though it falls in the same marketing niche. It looks
like us Standard users will either have to bite the bullet and go with
Deluxe even if we do not use any of its features, or stick with our current
version of Money.

MEss probably doesn't have such a thing. They've stripped it about as bare
as can be imagined.

As I understand it Essentials is a pared right down version - one step above
an Excel s/s - I know there are those who feel that Excel is one step above
Money! ;-)

I'm not sure any of us have seen Essentials -- I know that I haven't -- but
it's certainly possible that MS felt that memos weren't
essential.............

jm,

No experience with Essentials, but if you install the trial of Money
2007 Deluxe, you shouldn't have a problem entering a memo.

JB

Default Money 2007 - Where is the memo field?

I downloaded the trial for Money 2007 Essentials. I used Money 2002 for a
long time and I plan on purchasing 2007. However, I cannot find any memo
field for entering transactions. I cannot believe they would have taken out
the ability to write a memo about each transaction you enter. It seems so
necessary. I understand they still have category, but I need to write a
small reminder or note about each transaction. I looked in the help for
"memo" and found nothing. Please help me by letting me know if the memo is
in fact gone, or I am missing it. Thank you. I can't figure out how to ask
Microsoft about product features either.
