| Are you saying you think, mistakenly, that you must be using Essential Register to do it this way? | Apparently someone considers that non-Essential. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL "jwalker" <jwalker[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F1CA2DAC-04F2-4E00-B956-898271570E10[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I prefer to track my checking and savings accouts in Money without having > to manually enter each transaction. |

| Thanks for the responses. It is unfortunate that the SPECIAL: TRANSFER & CREDIT CARD PAYMENT category options are not available when using the esential account register. I prefer to track my checking and savings accouts in Money without having to manually enter each transaction. Thanks again. | The Expense Category "Credit Card Payments/Transfers" is just that--it's an Expense category. Assuming you are using Advanced Registers, delete that category with extreme prejudice. Then you can use the "Special Categories" Transfer (best) or Credit Card Payment (Transfer by a less normative name). They exist just to avoid the problem you are seeing. Money added this category in M05 just to confuse users who really are trying to account in a meaningful way. | Why does money categorize a transfer from my checking account to my savings account as an expense. The help window says to select the Credit Card Payment/Transfer category but this still records the transfer transaction as an expense. For example, If I move $500 from my checking to my savings account, my monthly report will show that I earned $500 in additional income and spent $500 in additional expense. |
