Default Re: Credit card payment

I have noticed if I switch my accounts to Essential from Advanced the
starting balance changes. I am not sure why this happens but...

As suggested in a prior post, I switched my credit card account back to
using the essential register, and magically everything is fixed and the
account balances properly. Go figure. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see
what happens if I switch back to the advanced register.

In a credit card account, the balance is what you owe. So as you
spend money, the balance should get more positive. As you make a
payment to the credit card account, the balance should go lower.

What you probably should do is go to the account details, and change
the opening balance to a positive number if you owed money
initially.

Default Credit card payment

Why is my credit card payment, which is properly shown in the "credit"
column, being added to the total balance, rather than being subtracted? And,
come to think of it, my running balance, instead of showing a gradually
increasing negative (shown in red) balance, is actually a gradually
increasing postive balance. So my statement balance of -2,000 or so is shown
as 2,000 in black, which then doubled when I made my payment.
